    Okay, y'all have been talking about who's the greatest. My question is who got relegated (English leagues only please) this year?

    Okay, folks, I can see everyone likes a winner. But what about the West Brompton Albion fans?

    With one game left Norwich have 33 points Southampton and Crystal Palace 32, and West Brom lie bottom with 31. So technically relegation has yet to be decided, though it doesn't look good for WBA.

    Of the four, WBA has the best end of season fixture playing Portsmouth at home. Southampton entertain Man Utd, so that's not good, allthough Man U aren't playing very well at present. Crystal Palace are away to Charlton and Norwich are away to Fulham, so there is still everything to play for, but if one of the other three win on Saturday WBA are goners.

    Thanks. I can only get the standings from the SF Chronicle and the San Jose Mercury-News. With the NBA Finals and Major League Baseball in full throat, there is not much room left for the important pieces of sporting news. (Smash the Crystal, Go Alby...)

    If I read the SJ M-N chart correctly then:

    The Running Rebels of Southampton, the Smashers of Crystal Palace, and the WB Albees (no Woman's Basketball Association jokes please) are still on the relegation bubble. But, there is no joy for the fans of Gillingham, Nottingham Forest or Rotterham. These three have been relegated to the English equivalent of AA ball.

    For my German readers, there is sad news for
    the fans of SC Freiburg in the Bundesliga. SCF has also been relegated.

    On a positive note, Sunderland and Wigan were promoted to the Premier League (in Yankee speak, S and W moved from AAA ball to The Show.)

    And Sunderland are coached by Mick McCarthy, the former Irish coach who had the courage to send Roy Keane home from the last World Cup!

    So, when will the final standings be known? To bad they don't use the relegation system in American professional baseball. Just think the Cubs would have been playing AAA ball for years instead of cluttering up the major league schedule. The Yankees may have had a chance to play Sacramento.

    Amazing match! We got to see it on telly.

    They beat Portsmouth 2-0
    Crystal Palace could only draw with Charlton as Charlton scored late.
    Norwich went down 6-0 to Fulham.

    Amazing last day!

    See, what did I tell you. There was more excitment over the relegations than over Chelsea's championship with an 11 point lead.

    Well done the Baggies! I am delighted to see Southampton going down - they have been playing with relegation fire for years.

    Or one who was influenced by that same "Chelsea supporter waiting all your life for that day" and becoming a Chelsea fan because of it.

    And even that has been 10 years!

    Rooting for Chelsea this year was like rooting for the Yankees, no suspense. That's what I like about the relegations.

    That's what I found out as I looked up the Premier League news. But 11 points is a commanding lead. Contrasted to the squeekers at the other end of the standings.

    I wish that more sports in the US had relegation. It would make things much more interesting. In Argetina, Basketball is second in populartiy only to futbol (soccer). They use relegation with their basketball associtation and it sure does make things more interesting.

    Can you imagine what would happen if Major leauge baseball or the NBA practiced relegation? I think it would be exciting.
