Religion Important to Americans

    POLL FINDS RELIGION VERY IMPORTANT FOR MOST AMERICANS
    (Undated-AP) -- Religion appears to be more important to
    Americans than it is to others who live in wealthy countries.
    A Pew Research Center study says 59 percent of Americans
    who were polled consider religion "very important" in their
    lives. That's well above other industrial countries, such as
    Britain with 33 percent and France with eleven percent.
    The U-S is more spiritually in line with developing
    nations.
    The most religious country in the poll is Senegal in
    Africa, with 97 percent saying religion is very important.
    Also exceeding U-S numbers are all ten African nations
    polled, six in Latin America and six in Asia -- including Turkey.
    The Czech Republic ties with France as the least religious.
    A Pew Center spokesman says the results show "an important
    divide" between the U-S and traditional allies on matters like
    abortion and the use of new biological technologies.

    I lived in France as a civilian for 5.5 years, and then with the US military for another 2, and I can verify the above statement as true. I have several missionary friends there, however, and I trust that the trend will swing to the other direction - for the LORD is able! [​IMG]

    Does the poll break down "religion" by type (i.e. Christianity, Islam, etc.)

    I don't think Senegal is a Christian country.

    Maybe Senegal is not a Christian country, but sad to say neither is the U.S. [​IMG] Other countries are already sending missionaries to the U.S. [​IMG] Will we go the same route that England went? We need to humble ourselves, pray, and seek God. Maybe Mexico will be the next country to be the sending forth place for foreign missionaries. I hope so! I would love to be a part of it. [​IMG]
