I never said that. I do think that many Christians obsess more on sexual issues than any other, however. There are much worse things that people can do. I also don't see how it is worse than any other transgression of Biblical commands.

I disagree. The Bible tells how fornication leads to murder, kingdoms lost, and lives destroyed. We still see how it leads to the murder of the unborn, and the warnings to those who would harm the helpless are more dire than any others in scripture.

The problem is you either keep you head in the sand on the facts of how certain issues are being pushed on the public or you really support those issues. But what you call an obsession is actually a response to the political imposition of certain sexual issues. You want to let them win, which is contrary to a Christian walk and there are other issues just as important.

Fact is those who support specific issues accuse those who oppose them as being obsessed. It is because of your desire for them to be successful you are hyper sensative to opposition.
Mitch, I really wish I understood what you are trying to say. Who is pushing what? I want to let who win? Who do I want to win, and what do I want them to win? You lost me.

Has anyone who read the paper found any error in its methodology?

>I just don't think a link can be made between girls having conservative religious beliefs and them being more likely to have abortions.

Don't see how anyone who read the paper could come to this conclusion from the paper.

What in the paper leads anyone to conclude that this comment reflects the data or the conclusions of the paper?

How many people have kingdoms these days? How many ever did? What about infertile couples? No chance of any so-called "murder of the unborn" then. The argument seems weak. It is not about the act itself, but of some possible outcomes. It is like saying mopping the floor is a sin because sometimes people will slip and hurt themselves on a wet surface.

I don't see it either. It is reading through a filter.

People do not want to accept that ultra-conservative religious views have negative results at times. Barna Research reported that evangelicals have higher divorce rates than any other group. Then we have this story. There is a lot of smoke to not have a fire somewhere.

Would the category "private religious schools" include schools such as Sidwell Friends School, where students "serve the community" via internships at the National Abortion Rights Action League and Planned Parenthood?

You are correct.

Also I find it interesting how many people attack the study, but do not address the issue of teen pregnancy and how it can be addressed with positive effects.

Just giving biblical examples of fornication being sin, not a man-made taboo.

How many ever did? What about infertile couples? No chance of any so-called "murder of the unborn" then. The argument seems weak.
What ? Weak ? Infertile couples ? Are you on drugs ? What does that have to do with anything ?

It is not about the act itself, but of some possible outcomes. It is like saying mopping the floor is a sin because sometimes people will slip and hurt themselves on a wet surface.
Baloney. You can't show me a Biblical example of mopping a floor being a sin, but I can show you Biblical examples of fornication being one. You are the one who said we made it a taboo. I'm just proving you wrong, once again, with nothing but the Bible as my guide. I suggest you use it sometime, it will save you these embarrassing moments.

The whole thread is ridiculous. Just more evidence of your hatred of Christian living.

I guess you didn't see me ask for the home-schooling stats. Getting rid of MTV & other sin-oriented entertainment may also help.

Good idea. Censorship rather than parental responsibility. Talk about a nanny state! And I thought you were libertarian in view.

Censorship is alive and well within my home. Parental Responsibility is a very proud domestic dictatorship in my household.

Like I said, you hate Christian living so much, it forces you to put words in people's mouths. If you want your kids to watch sinful TV, go for it. As for me & my house, we will serve the Lord.

Got those home-schooled stats ? I know you & your ilk are afraid of kids who get taught creation instead of evolution, (which is the true nanny-state position, state-educated kids are "better" than fundie-educated, right ?) and I also know you think people should question the bible instead of obey it.

Yes, I did see your question and I thought it a good one. I'd like to see those stats also. It would be interesting. Some home schooled kids are very well educated, some are not. Nothing unexpected there. I personally know one family who completely ruined their kids education through home schooling, and I also personally know others who received a very good education.

But as to your question my guess is they will have a lower incidence of teenage pregnancy. But it is only a guess on my part.

Thus saith the king of spin. You put words in people's mouth with regularity. By all means, rather than attacking, how about clarification. Sounded to me like you favor eliminating MTV and other media you deem offensive. If that is not true, please clarify or correct your earlier statement.

I will give you this one. If a proposition is true, it should be able to withstand the light of examination and scrutiny. Anything else is a blind faith. Truth has no problem being exposed to the light of reason.

Are you suggesting that abstaining from sex outside of marriage is an ultra-conservative religious view?

If not, what would be the ultra-conservative religious views that would be relevant to this discussion?
