A photo taken in 1871 of George Custer posing with old veterans of the War of 1812.

The Battle of the River Raisin, in Michigan, was a defeat for the small American army made up of a few regulars, and some 2000 volunteers, mostly from Kentucky. The killing of about 80 wounded militia by some of Tecumseh’s warriors the following day angered Americans, and the rallying cry of "Remember the Raisin" motivated many more men to volunteer.

Nine Ky counties were named after militia officers who died in the battle - LINK

Welcome. Another interesting point is that many of those old men may very well have outlived Custer, since he died just three years at Little Bighorn.

NiteShift, that beautiful Gwyneth is a spy for the crown, sent to beguile you into pointing out a fine American general. These boys didn't repel he British invaders so we could give secrets to the enemy! Don't fall for it!

He's in the middle back row with his hand placed on the back of each chap beside him. His head is tilted to his right.

Interesting Photo, Nite Shift. Thanks for sharing.

He is the younger-looking gent in the middle of the back row.

Yes well I'll admit that I'm a pushover for such charms as she obviously possesses.;)

Now that reminds me of Benedict Arnold...
