Remind me: what is the "young universe" explanation of observational data?

"The light from those past events is just arriving at Earth now, and so the XDF is a 'time tunnel into the distant past,'" according to a NASA statement. "The youngest galaxy found in the XDF existed just 450 million years after the universe's birth in the Big Bang."

Hubble was only able to image these objects by amassing light in 2,000 images of the same area, with a total exposure time of 2 million seconds, through two of its cameras: the Advanced Camera for Surveys and the Wide Field Camera 3.

Genesis 1:14 "And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:

15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so."

The bible says that God created the stars to "give light upon the earth." It would be a pretty stupid god who made the stars to shine upon the earth but forgot to make the light traveling from the stars to the earth.

Couple of points here!

We don't know if the speed of light is a true constant today in the Universe, we cannot know what the rate of speed used to be in past, nor in the future, and scientists have even managed to slow down rate of speed in the lab now...

is the universe expanding or finite? Does God continually renew it or not?

Expanding into nothing, but new energy or matter is not being generated. Thus some predict "heat death" in a few hundred billion or so years if it doesn't turn out that the process is cyclical. As the distance between galaxies and then solar systems increases space will become dark. Our sun will be gone long before then.

Will the entire Universe go dark than?

That is the hypothesis. There will be no useful energy left to produce light or heat. Only differences in energy levels can be detected.
