    Hello,
I've been asked to perform a renewing of vows ceremony. Would this, in one way, be just like a marriage ceremony with the restating of the vows? Does it need to be just like a marriage ceremony with the bride walking in escorted by her father?????
    Any help will be appreciated.

I have only performed one renewal of vows ceremony. The lady's father was not available to be at the ceremony, but even if he was, I don't think it would be appropriate for him to give her away again.

The ceremony was very simple, there were only a few people present. The Husband actually walk down the isle with his Bride to the tune of a Don Williams song, "Your My Best Friend". I gave an introduction and preached a super-mini sermon and they "Renewed their Vows". It was very meaningful, but short and sweet.

Oh ya, also the vows were not the same as for a marriage. Similar but appropriate for a couple who were already married.

I re-did the wedding vows to make them appropriate to the renewal.

I have to give one word of warning. A few of the couples who have asked for a renewal are hoping for a miracle to save a trobled marriage. This might be a good opportunity to see if the marriage needs some mid course corrections.

I will second that. Ask a few probing questions, they may need more help than just a vow renewal.

Good advice on the opportunity for marriage counseling. One couple, though, asked me about this. They were about to celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary. I'd have looked like a fool if I'd tried to sit them down and tell them what they needed to do to make their marriage work. What I should've done is demanded they do a marriage enrichment event prior to the ceremony!
