I am not Baptist, and I can't figure out why I am unable to send private messages; as it does not record it as sent, and yet Rolf can send one to me in welcoming me to the forum. I hope he got my reply of thanks.
Anyway, a moderator believed it was unfair for me to quote someone else in starting another similar thread in the "All Christian" sub forum in respecting the Baptists Only sub forum of not replying in it for my not being a Baptist. I agree if the person quoted is unaware that I was quoting that poster in another thread even though the poster is not the original poster of that OP.
I am hoping that the title would justify quoting the poster of that OP in the Baptists Only part of the forum for my quoting him in this duplicate thread of his being placed in the All Christian part of the forum.
If that is still wrong in some ways, please let me know so I will not do it again, but as it is...I believe the Lord would have me share this edification.
Being in this corruptible flesh, it would be unwise to think it can never happen to a fellow believer.
Galatians 5:13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. 14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 15 But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another. 16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
Paul was not wrong to caution them; and neither is it wrong to recognize your limitation and that your limitation is not the same as others. All of us are at a different growth stage in the Lord.
Churches are to excommunicate someone that refuses to repent. ( Matthew 18:14-17 ) Believers are to withdraw from a brother that is wicked, & unreasonable, have not faith, not following after the traditions taught of us, and are disorderly to admonish them to repent ( 2 Thessalonians 3:1-7,14-15 )
Titus 3:9 But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain. 10 A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject; 11 Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself.
A brother has to be warned about being put on ignore before actually admonishing him to show the seriousness of the offense in his walk with the Lord, but you are right that taunting has no place.
Galatians 6:17Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.
We should "sniper" praise followers of Christ.
Philippians 3:17Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.
Schoolyard antics are not allowed in the military environment, and yet every soldier knows the consequences for insubordination.

Firstly, I'd like to state my opinion on putting someone on ignore. I personally think it's a cop out. Putting someone on ignore is at worst telling them that you can't debate on their level, and at best telling everyone that you have no discipline or self control (as these posters "bring out the worst in you").

I personally have never used the ignore function, and plan on never using it. This is a Christian forum. There should be no reason to even have it.

Secondly, if you put someone on ignore, don't taunt them about it. You have just lowered yourself to the same schoolyard level that made you want to put them on ignore.
A brother has to be warned about being put on ignore before actually admonishing him to show the seriousness of the offense in his walk with the Lord, but you are right that taunting has no place.
Lastly, if you have someone on ignore, it is unethical to respond to a quote someone posted of them. A term for that is "sniper trolling". You can shoot them, and they can't defend themselves.

All in all, let's just cut the schoolyard antics, and everyone will be happier.
