Republicans Get Dragged by Trump's Unpopularity

"So what can Republicans do? Absent a time machine back to spring 2016 to get themselves a different presidential candidate, they're really stuck between a rock and a hard place. Stick with Trump, and they energize Democrats and push away potential voters who already reject him. Dump on Trump, and they'll drive down his approval ratings even more, further energizing Democrats and demoralizing the Republican party faithful."

Hey, awesome argument. Quite the debating tactic. I see why you have 41,000+ posts.

Mitch has met his blue alter ego and he all of a sudden is oblivious to the irony of Ken’s posting style. It’s an amazing thing to watch from the outside.

No, Republicans got dragged down by Republican's unpopularity.but you don't want to believe that.

Trying to turn Obama's results on its head? Loss of over 1000 Democrat seats since 2008 but you didn't see the hacks like this guy say "Democrats get dragged down by Obama's unpopularity". They still are essentially an urban only party, and if that it true, there's not much chance they will take the House next year.

Ed couldn't even win there when conditions couldn't have been any more favorable to the GOP and refused to even say Trump's name on the campaign trait. But you really want to believe otherwise, so have at it.

Negative. Republicans lost because:
1. Do nothing congress.
2. They were Democrat districts anyway.
3. Bush 43 endorsement.
4. Candidates unwillingness to embrace Trump.
5. Both Governor candidates were lock step party line establishment RINOS.

How bout abismal performance, engineering a shutdown of the George Washington Bridge and shutting down parks and beaches
On a major holiday, never being present when needed...crap like that. At least go into some detail instead of GOP talking points.

RINO I will agree with. Until this country moves to an ultra conservative stance we will continue to flounder

Not surprised by either loss. In Virginia you had conservatives stay home. You had felons voting.

NJ is a blue state in a red time.

Historically this happens all the time. But both parties remain hugely unpopular right now.
