Republicans: Spend more, tax less

Plus the Democrats need to be stronger on national defense and more pro-free enterprise.

 

Do you remember what the major debate question was in the 2000 election? What should we do with the huge budget surplus. This administration has been the opposite of fiscally conservative. They've been radical free-spenders and have destroyed our trade position as well.

 

Of course, there never was really a budget surplus. The national debt has continued to increase every year for decades.

The illusion of a budget surplus was created by including the extra money that Social Security had over expenditures - money that will have to be repaid to Social Security starting about 2017.

 

The OP topic is moot, since a 50 billion dollar spending cut just made it through congress.

 

I think the funds supposedly freed up by that cut, are earmarked for the unconstitutional reconstruction of the socialists cities that were hurricane victims.

 

The tax code itself needs reform. Along with the supporting legislation, it runs to 9,000,000 words and people tell me that it is incomprehensible.

Bush has been unwilling to veto anything and Congress has gone wild for pork.

If the Democrats were in control, we know from history that they would combine high taxes and deficit spending. In other words, the more they collect, the more they spend.

The American people have the idea that federal money is someone else's money. The way to run a republic is to run it cheap and low cost. In the 19th century, pork barrel items that only benefited a few people would have been vetoed.

Business wants high taxes because they want the high consumption that both husband and wife working generates. Without high taxes, business cannot force wives into the workplace. It is a destructive force that is destroying the family and the home for the profit of big business and big government.
