I have been to the site. All I can say is, Wow!

Even though the computers come without an operating system, the prices are really great for what you can get. And if you order a computer that meets minimum requirements (300MHz CPU, 128MB RAM and a 4GB Hard drive), you can have Windows xp installed for $109.

True, they may not be top of the line, but a Pentium 4 2.4Ghz, 224 MB of RAM, and a 40 GB hard drive for $343 ain't bad...and that is the most expensive desktop they have (when I wrote this...they get new inventory all the time...see below).

Top of the line for laptops? Gateway, Pentium 4 M 1.7Ghz, 256 MB Ram, 30 GB hard drive, CD, for $774 (they didn't have those yesterday).

They also carry Macintosh, Monitors, Printers, Network Hubs, Network Routers, Mass Storage Devices, Network Switches, Servers, Sun Servers, Sun Workstations, & Uninterruptable Power Supplies.

If you want cutting edge, you won't find it. But if you are looking for something servicable without breaking the bank, it is worth a look.

    In Christ,

Pick up a copy of Computer Shopper and check out the WebBuyer section.

It has bookoodles of capsule reviews of websites for Tech Shopping, Direct PC Vendors, PC Resources, and Software Sites.

This month's issue also has inserts on PDAs and Accessories, Blank Media, and Sites for Audiophiles.

And, at $2.99, it is really cheap.

Would be especially great for getting a cheap hardware PC without paying for an OS license if you want to load Linux or x86 Solaris on it. half the cost of a new PC goes to Microsloth for their viruses they install on it.

    Right-o, g220.

I have been passing this website to several people, and a few have told me that they are ordering a computer from them.

The way I look at it is this: If I can obtain something that I need/want at a price I can actually afford, who cares if it didn't come from Circuit City? Plus, if I decide to go with Win XP, I have the newest version (for a week or two [IMG])

I have my sights on buying a bigger monitor, since I am partial to AMD processors. And maybe a laser printer.

Some other sites for used or refurbished components/computers:

Electrified.com will shock you with deals on discontinued, refurbished, and no-longer-state-of-the-art computers and consumer electronics. You'll find printers, PDAs, and plasma televisions, all with a 30-day money-back guarentee.

Refurbishedelectronics.com isn't just about computers. You can find paper shredders, car CD players, and office equipment, too. The region-free DVD players let you play movies from around the world. Extended warranties are available.

TechForLess.com - What happens to the PCs and peripherals that customers return to the store? Some of them end up at TechForLess, which tests amd resells them to budget-minded shoppers like you. The company has a 30-day return policy on defective merchandise, but you may not get a warranty past that.

UsedLaptops.com - Need a cheap portable PC? UsedLaptops.com sells pre-owned portables starting at around $250. The selection ranges from budget machines suitable for word-processing to speedy ones for on-the-go multimedia.

WeirdStuff.com - WeirdStuff Warehouse brims with surplus computer and networking gear, ranging from mainstream to downright funky. You can find used motherboards, older software, obsolete peripherals---oodles of inexpensive tech goodies.

(These were a few out of September's Computer Shopper WebBuyer)
