Review of book entitled God's Forever Word

Farnham, Jeff. God's Forever Word. Murfreesboro: Sword of the Lord Publishers, 2013.

This book is a KJV-only book. Jeff Farnham claimed: "The King James Bible, one such translation that has come to the world, is inspired and preserved in English. It needs no improvements or corrections! It is God's pure, infallible, immutable, impeccable, miraculous Word!" (p. 90). The author does not mention nor discuss the fact of the actual corrections of errors in the 1611 edition of the KJV and in later editions of the KJV.

On the surface, the author may appear to present a compelling, scripturally-based case for his position. One serious problem is that the author does not actually apply the scriptural truths to which he appeals consistently, soundly, and justly.

Farnham claimed: "Multiversionism as it pertains to God's oversight of an unchanged and unchanging Bible requires a weak, powerless God" (p. 59). Does he apply his own assertion consistently and justly? Does it ignore the fact that the KJV is actually a revision of multiple English Bibles with some textual differences and is based on multiple, textually-varying Bible translations in other languages and on multiple, textually-varying original-language text editions. Farnham calls other believers "multiversional Bible-correctors" (p. 27) while ignoring the fact that the Church of England makers of the KJV engaged in the practice of multiversional BIble-correcting.

Farham asked: "What makes the translation of the multiversionist better or more accurately worded than the translation chosen by the King James translators" (p. 69). He does not ask what makes the translation of the multiversionists who made the KJV better or more accurately worded than the translation chosen by William Tyndale or than the translation chosen by the Geneva Bible translators. This indicates one problem with this book, its assertions are not actually applied consistently and justly.

Would this author suggest that a weak, powerless God was involved in the making of the pre-1611 English Bible?

 

After the heading "The Supernal Testimony of God About His Book," Jeff Farnham asserted: "One can imagine what God is thinking about all the pompous windbags of our generation who dare to exalt themselves against the Author in their attempts to correct the inspired, preserved King James Bible. When God authored His Book, He placed within its text a supernal testimony; that is, a heavenly testimony from on high, as to His opinion of His Book" (p. 20).

 

In his book, several times Jeff Farnham suggests or implies that God is directly the Author of the KJV, making him very extreme in his human KJV-only reasoning.
