Amazing! Simply amazing!

Indiana GOP U.S. Senate candidate Richard Mourdock declared Tuesday night he opposes aborting pregnancies conceived in rape because "it is something that God intended to happen."

I just want to point out the eminent implication in CBT's scoffing: God did not plan for the lives of those who were conceived during a rape, therefore, they should be terminated.

That's because the rapist has more power and control than God does. :BangHead: :BangHead:

I think all three posts above are totally wrong, even though they appear to be on opposite sides. I am conservative, generally vote Republican, and most of all, believe that this nation is governed by the Constitution. First of all, abortion is wrong, and there is no justification for taking the life of a child because it was conceived by a rape. Murder is murder.

Having said that, there is no way I would vote for the idiot running for the Senate from Indiana who stated "it was something God intended to happen." God never intends for a sinful act to happen. It is obvious the senate candidate has no idea what he is talking about, and is using God and Scripture to obtain political power. That goes twice for the other idiot running for the Senate in Missouri.

Aside from that, anyone who would make such a statement in a political campaign obviously has no common sense, and that is the last thing we need added to the disaster we already have in Washington.

I did not see where he said God intended for the rape to happen. He seems to be saying that God intended for the pregnancy to happen. Two different things.

In that sense you are correct. The Lord may have great things to be done for His Kingdom by the child. The Lord had nothing to do with the evil act that created the child.

Sometimes things are better left unsaid. Such a statement did nothing to define issues in the campaign for the office of Senator from Indiana. The candidate could state he is completely pro life and leave it at that. Again, common sense goes a long way, and to me, says a lot about his mindset and motives.

You make a valid point, however.

I also noticed that his opponent is also pro life, which further begs the question, why was it ever brought up in the first place? If two candidates are pro life, then it is not an issue. I am sure there are plenty of issues to talk about like jobs, foreign policy, and the budget.

To say he was asked the question by the media, that is true. However, it was his choice has to how he answered it. Of all the answers he could have given, from "I am pro life, it speaks for itself" to a hundred others, he chose this one.

Glad to see some one who can see the forest and the trees.

Exactly. ANY time a child is conceived, it is a miracle of God. There is no other reason that child exists. The rape was not what God intended but He has, will and can use that experience to bring a person to Him. It is OUR decision to ignore the reality of another human being now being in existence and deciding that killing that child will make things "better". I'm sorry but I don't think that will work.

Amen, Aaron. C.T.Boy's hatred of Christians betrays him.

I would have too. Its not for me to explain what he meant, the wording could be construed a number of ways as we see on this very thread.

The wording could have been better but the point remains.

I do agree. To maybe say "No conception happens by accident to God even when it happens through a method that He detests" maybe might be better?

I prefer honest politicians who speak their mind, and don't worry about how it will be "construed".

"“I struggled with it myself for a long time, but I came to realize life is that gift from God,” Mourdock said at a debate. “And I think even when life begins in that horrible situation of rape, that it is something that God intended to happen.”

Somebody point out to me his mistake in that statement.

So God intended for the woman to get pregnant by the guy , just not raped by him???

Yall try so hard to put your own discerning spin on things that it becomes ludicrous.

The woman didn't just spontaneously conceive. Something had to take place. And if GOD intended for her to get pregnant, He would have had to intend for her to get raped as the pregnancy resulted from the rape.

It's the same thing. God din't intend for her to get raped or pregnant from the rape. That's all man's doing.

God knew it was gonna happen. But His order as to how a pregnancy is to come about, has not changed since Genesis with the exception of Christ.
