Sad, I believe he died without Christ.

    Yes,
it is sad, even sadder when we all stand before Christ and are held accountable for our actions, those without knowing Christ as Savior will really pay the price.

He was one of the greatest. Ribald comedy with a strong social commentary. If some of you people think he's in Hell, then Hell just got a whole lot funnier.

There is absolutely nothing funny about Hell, no matter who is there. It is very serious and should not be taken lightly. I am sorry that he died. Even sorrier that he lived a hard life, and even though he probably made many happy through laughter, he himself, never really seemed to be very happy. I am most sorry for those who loved him who will now be mourning his passing.

Pryor was a profane man who got his laughs mocking righteousness. His type of humor has no place in the life of the believer.

Paul said that not only should we not do such wicked things, we should not even speak of them. It is a sad commentary on holiness and godliness for a believer to find humor in wickedness such as Pryor reportedly spewed.

Ephesians 5:11-12 11 Do not participate in the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but instead even expose them; 12 for it is disgraceful even to speak of the things which are done by them in secret.

It is sad that he died, but sadder yet that he participated so heavily in the corruption of minds and morality.

Well, God will decide his fate now. I hope he was saved. People like us, the average Joe, sometimes have no idea who Stars or Famous people are. I'm sure they live a life we don't know about behind the scenes. Richard could have been a saved man. Either way, he brought laughter to me and I wish him peace.

Doesn't the Bible give some pretty clear evidences about salvation in a person's life? It would certainly seem to contradict everything we know about Pryor's life.

Why are people so eager to paint someone into heaven?

    Pastor.

So, you know Richard Pryor personally and you know for a fact he isn't saved?

I'm not going to turn this into a debate where I pretend I know the judgment of a man. Rather, I wish him peace. Take care all.

</font>[/QUOTE]This morning my pastor said that Richard Pryor had got things right before passing. Not sure of the time table, but that's what he said.

Judging to the most recent quote from Pryor this year that I was able to find on Wikipedia, I would probably think that this is wishful thinking on your pastor's part. I won't post his quote or even the link to the quote here as both are very vulgar. If you would like to see it for yourself, however, check out his bio on Wikipedia and look at the heading "Later Life".

Just found the following on the intro to his official home page right here:

I think that says it all. Again, I will not post a link to this kind of vulgarity. If you want to see it, look it up.

You never know what happened right before his death, he could have called on God.

Absolutely God could have saved him. God could have saved Hitler, and Saddam's sons right before they died. Do we know for sure either way? Nope. Did we see any real evidence to say that he was while he was alive? Nope. That is why it sounds like speculative wishful thinking to me based on nothing of real substance.

It is wishful thinking on my part. I pray he repented in his last days and trusted in the Lord Jesus. I pray my pastor's source is reliable.

Real evidence...if you mean to say because it wasn't on E.T. ...than I guess not. Or the fact that his entire life wasn't taped to be shown to the world...than I guess not.

And as such we cannot give any sort of judgment. As the Pastor pointed out, "why are people so eager to paint someone into heaven."

One could say "why are people so eager to paint someone into hell." Does it make you feel good? Maybe God loves you more? Sounds like BS to me.

By the way, to even use the name Hitler or Saddam's sons as an analogy is disgusting.

The Wikipedia entry said that Pryor was a staunch anti-vivisectionist, and that only deepens my regard for the man.

In a world of incurious banality and downright stupidity, Pryor was a true gem.

Maybe he's in Hell right now sending zingers to Old Scratch himself, "Hey Devil! Your mother is so ugly . . ." HAHAHAHAHAHA!!

I wonder if I still have a copy of his greatest hits CD.
