    ed. Not really riddle, but trivia Q.
    Of the "big 4" professional team sports in the USA, what are the only 2 days of the year in which there is no competition between teams to be scheduled?

    The day before and after the MLB All-Star game.

    Well, the NFL has off days all the time. But in the MLB, only the day before and day after the All-Star game is free. However, these are not technically "schedule" days. I'm trying to rememeber if we've had some make up games on Wednesdays after the break.

    Rarely is there a day where one of the big four isn't on schedule.

    Well, the NFL has off days all the time.

    True (not literally, as they do play some days :)), but baseball is still going till the last of September, by which time NBA basketball has already started, and it (with hockey) plays till long after the NFL season. In fact, the gap between the NFL and MLB is down to about one week, after the Pro Bowl the beginning of spring training; even though the actual regular seasons are separated by about 11 weeks.

    This is correct on a regular basis, although I think occasionally one might accidentally find another day with no other professional contests scheduled.
