    What was it like?

It's hilarious. Wilson's satire would peel paint - he not only lampoons the terrible writing of the Left Behind books (and bad end-times thrillers in general), but vapid Chrisitan pop culture as well (youth lock-ins, Precious Moments figurines, Thomas Kinkade paintings, and so forth).

If you want to get a feel for the writing, there's an excerpt at the Antithesis Web site; unfortunately at the time of writing I can't access the site to find it specifically for you, so you'll have to do some hunting around.

Paul says not to involve ourselves in "foolish talking, nor course jesting, which are not fitting" (Eph.5:4). I skimmed through Right Behind at a pastors conference several months ago, but I didn't buy it because I felt it crossed the line. I see no problem with satire or sarcasm being used when dealing with error. I think I can even find examples of this in Paul's own writings, but always with the goal of lovingly seeking to build up the body by bringing errant brethren to their senses. I can't imagine Paul ever condoning the writing of an entire book for no other purpose than to make fun of and/or belittle one's brothers in Christ. Although I personally disagree with the dispensational theology promoted by the Left Behind series, I still regard many who hold such views as my brothers in Christ, and I don't think Right Behind "speaks the truth in love" (Eph.4:15) to them.
