I'm sorry to hear that for two reasons.

First, Ellie Mae was one of the first girls (along with Cathy Baker) I had a crush on.

Second, our oldest daughter's nickname is "Ellie Mae" because of her love for animals and we still joke about all her "critters".

Little known piece of trivia: Ellie Mae was going to be married and a new character introduced into the show, to replace Max Baer, Jr, who was planning to leave to direct movies, but the show was cancelled before those episodes were filmed. Nine episodes including the story arc of Ellie Mae and her boyfriend, Mark Templeton, were shot and occasionally air in syndication. But the show was cancelled before that story could be brought to fruition. Because of this, the character just appears to disappear from the show.

After her acting career she became a popular gospel singer and writer of children's books containing bible stories.

The Hillbillies was not my favorite show, Sort of like Laurel and Hardy or the Stooges, just too silly. But Donna was one of the gals I had a crush on too! She was a teen heart throb for many of us teens. She will be missed and prayers go to her family!

She had some good friends in my neck of the woods up "north" [lol!!] in the Monroe area. She would come up here from time to time and although I never got to meet her, my friend would always post pictures on Facebook of their get togethers. In fact, that's how I found out she died, my friend told me.

I was also not a fan of the show (nor of Green Acres, Designing Women, or other such shows that painted people from below the Mason-Dixon line as .... well, as they were type cast - I think it did a lot of damage to how others view us)

...anyway - I did appreciate her Christian faith and her love of others in real life. She was the real deal.

Hallelujah!!! I hope he's running around heaven, cancer free with none of the ailments of this wicked world. Now that's peace.

I don't know what Bible you get your info from, or what church is serving you your kool aid, BUT when it comes to heaven there should be NO doubt that there will be no disease (a result of sin in this wicked world, per your own words) in heaven.

I have no doubt that this uncle WILL be enjoying eternity, pain free, disease free, and no longer concerned about death!
