RUTH BADER GINSBURG DEAD! Supreme Court Justice Dies at Home Surrounded by Family

NOTE: I just put this on post # 41 for the benefit for thsoe who have not yet seen this thread:
ATTN:

I have just edited a few posts in reference to the late Justice Ginsburg.
Bap Board has a policy of nothing negative of a public person for 30 days following their death.
I have not issued any points at this point. .Effective at the posting of this info -
negative posts WILL be subject to points.
It is NOT too much to ask Christians to show some respect. I realize some will say
that she does not deserve respect. That is where our Christian charity can chime in.
We are able to show charity, even if we think someone does not deserve it.
We have the same situation over on the thread about Jerry Jr..
Instead of wishing Hell upon someone - lets pray that her family may hear the Gospel during
this time of mourning..

Going to be an interesting news cycle tonight, especially regarding what the Prez should do. Though I think he's made it clear.

Democrats have talked about packing the supreme court to dilute the conservative judges Trump administration has gotten in there. The number 9 is not written anywhere, there could be 20 or 30 supreme justices. No number is specifically specified.

Precedent is a big deal in legal circles. Very unlikely any changes to the number of justices. Roosevelt wanted to, but even with his popularity, he backed down.

peace to you

Would it be a negative post to follow the example of leftwingers and Scalia and toast her passing?

I doubt following left-wingers is a good strategy.

My view, say what you have to say about them when they're alive. Pause upon their death.

Conversely, don't turn funerals into political rallies.

RIP, the notorious RBG - she was a living icon and she must have been tough as nails to survive that long with recurrent cancer and other major health problems. Not that surprised at this news and all this talk about who is going to replace her when is rather disrespectful, IMO, this just happened.

I saw Biden's remarks, he was reading points off the paper again that some aide had written and took no questions. When he left his press, he looked old. OTOH, Trump was coming off a rally and his off-the-cuff remarks were much better. But, back to Ruth, guess in hindsight she should have retired around 2015 but tried to outlive a Trump presidency instead. I was in junior high when Clinton appointed her, she had a good run and fought to the very end.

Trump should nominate another Supreme court justice. He will catch (snip) (something) over it from the Democrats, but who cares about that. They have spent four years of pulling our all stops to hinder anything he does. And will continue to do so if he wins the next election.

The opposition is too different. No room for compromise anymore. Republicans can't play nice. The stakes are too high. If the shoe was at this time on the other foot the Democrats would cut his throat. If he can get his justice pick in there now, he should.

Voting will be easy again this year. Straight ticket . I wouldn't vote for a Democrat today for dog catcher.

Trump should nominate another Supreme court justice. ...

Four years ago, Justice Antonin Scalia passed away in Feb. 2016
This vacancy arose during Obama's final year as president, and shortly after Scalia's death was announced, Republican Senate leaders declared that because Scalia's seat had become vacant during an election year, the Senate would not even consider a nomination from the president. Senate Democrats criticized the move as being unprecedented and responded saying that there was sufficient time to vote on a nominee before the election

Thus to be consistent - Trump should wait until after the election to nominate - assuming he wins re-election

I disagree. Consistent and fair has been thrown out the window. The Democrats have proved that since Trump took office.

If Trump can get another Justice in on the Court of his choice, He should do it. Republicans should do it. Forget about playing fair anymore.

Had the Democratic party been more civil and fair during Trumps first term, then yes, fair would be the way to go. Not anymore. The Democratic party is like a rabid animal today.
