Role of a pastor?

    On another forum I posted to a pastor that I didn't believe was being very "pastor like".

    He got on me for saying that pastors are held to a higher standard, and he was tired of hearing that, didn't think it should be so.

    I've seen more than one use that logic...all Christians are held to the same standard.

    I believe that it is true in a sense, but aren't pastors meant to be the more mature and spiritual ones among us? The ones who show a little more patience, a little more understanding of the things of God, a little more compassion, a little more tolerance?

    Am I crazy, or are these regular expectations for a normal person to have of a person who calls him/herself a pastor? (threw that "her" in there for all the low down liberals ;) )

    I too think we as pastors should be expected to be the example. That doesn't mean we should have the attitude that we are holier.

    I am a down to earth pastor... I have heard comments about me being approachable, and they don't feel belittled by me.

    That is what I strive for... being real, while leading them to higher ground.

    Looks like a "higher standard" to me!
