Romans 4:8 NASB
“BLESSED IS THE MAN WHOSE SIN THE LORD WILL NOT TAKE INTO ACCOUNT.”

One of the understandings of this verse says God simply removes from sight, i.e. hides, the sins He forgives. Some say our sin is "covered" by the blood of Jesus, rather than washed away, removed, no longer existing.

The word translated "sin" refers to an act that results in an adverse consequence imposed by God. Thus a sinful act resulting in consequence for the unsaved technically can be considered not a sin for the saved because no adverse consequence will be imposed by God.

So the idea here is that those saved are blessed because God does not impose adverse consequence for the sinful acts we have committed or will commit.

But lets dig a little deeper.

Were our past sins simply declared or designated not to be sinful acts? Nope Wrong acts do not become right acts. What did the washing of regeneration wash away, remove and eliminate? The adverse consequence required by God's justice! God accepted the sacrifice of Christ, His lamb, as fulfilling the requirement of just consequence for the sins of those transferred into Christ and having undergone the washing of regeneration, being made alive together with Christ.

But, some of you may say, what about Psalm 32:1-2?
