I hope so. There has been twenty four years of disappointing Republicans. Who knows, if Romney wins, he might be a surprise. I do agree with the improvement in the platform based on some of Paul's ideas. If Romney does lose, I am optimistic enough to believe in 2016, we will finally get a conservative candidate.Wish I could be there at the Convention.
SN, have you seen the planks? Life begins at conception - a major breakthrough.
Rand Paul also said that in the planks are some of his dad's ideas - Back on the gold standard, audit the fed.
Like I said, change is happening in the GOP, starting with the Tea Party sweep in 2010. Inroads to sanity have been made in the GOP and we are taking our Party back and will take our Country Back, if Romney-Ryan sweep to victory.
Perhaps God is giving our nation 1 last chance?
I was trying to read the platform in LE's link and my computer is not cooperating for some reason. Is the Human Life Amendment still included? The last time I checked Romney was not supporting that but it has been several weeks since I checked. Romney/Ryan ticket also supports abortion for rape and incest. I recently linked to that in another thread that I think was in Current Events.
The Sanctity and Dignity of Human LifeFaithful to the “self-evident” truths enshrined inthe Declaration of Independence, we assert the sanc-tity of human life and affirm that the unborn child has a fundamental individual right to life which can-not be infringed. We support a human life amend-ment to the Constitution and endorse legislation tomake clear that the Fourteenth Amendment’s protections apply to unborn children. We oppose using public revenues to promote or perform abortion orfund organizations which perform or advocate it and will not fund or subsidize health care which includes abortion coverage. We support the appointment of judges who respect traditional family values and the sanctity of innocent human life. We oppose the non-consensual withholding or withdrawal of care ortreatment, including food and water, from people with disabilities, including newborns, as well as theelderly and infirm, just as we oppose active and pas-sive euthanasia and assisted suicide.Republican leadership has led the effort to pro-hibit the barbaric practice of partial-birth abortionand permitted States to extend health care coverageto children before birth. We urge Congress tostrengthen the Born Alive Infant Protection Act by enacting appropriate civil and criminal penalties onhealthcare providers who fail to provide treatmentand care to an infant who survives an abortion, in-cluding early induction delivery where the death of the infant is intended. We call for legislation to bansex-selective abortions – gender discrimination in itsmost lethal form—and to protect from abortion un- born children who are capable of feeling pain; and we applaud U.S. House Republicans for leading the effort to protect the lives of pain-capable unborn chil-dren in the District of Columbia. We call for a ban onthe use of body parts from aborted fetuses for re-search. We support and applaud adult stem cell re-search to develop lifesaving therapies, and we opposethe killing of embryos for their stem cells. We oppose federal funding of embryonic stem cell research. We also salute the many States that have passedlaws for informed consent, mandatory waiting peri-ods prior to an abortion, and health-protective clinicregulation. We seek to protect young girls from ex-ploitation through a parental consent requirement;and we affirm our moral obligation to assist, ratherthan penalize, women challenged by an unplanned pregnancy. We salute those who provide them withcounseling and adoption alternatives and empowerthem to choose life, and we take comfort in thetremendous increase in adoptions that has followedRepublican legislative initiatives.
Oh happy days are here again. A temple in every town, and a new tourist industry in South America at places Christ walked.
Wish I could be there at the Convention.
