Romney to Reid: 'Put up or shut up'

Mitt Romney lashed back at Harry Reid on Thursday in an interview with Fox News' Sean Hannity, saying the Senate majority leader needs to "put up or shut up" after airing allegations about Romney's taxes.

Reid, a Nevada Democrat, first raised eyebrows Tuesday by saying in a news interview that someone had told him Romney went 10 years without paying taxes. He would only identify his source as an investor in Romney's former venture capital firm, Bain Capital, and he acknowledged, "I'm not certain" it's true.

That didn't stop Reid from taking to the Senate floor Thursday to accuse the Republican presidential candidate again of paying no taxes, part of a broader Democratic attack on Romney for declining to release more than two years of tax documents.

"The word's out that he hasn't paid any taxes for 10 years," Reid said. "Let him prove that he has paid taxes, because he hasn't."

But Romney forcefully denied Reid's allegations on Hannity's radio show Thursday.

"Harry’s going to have to describe who it is he spoke with, because, of course, that is totally and completely wrong," Romney said. "It’s untrue, dishonest and inaccurate. It’s wrong.

Probably hiding the fact that he is a very successful, self made millionaire. Jealousy will get you nowhere CTB.

The attack by Reid is Qbama instigated. If Romney has not paid any taxes he is in the same club as the Qbama cohort GE! Also, if Romney has not paid any taxes for 10 years as Dingy Harry says where is the IRS.

I would also point out that Dingy Harry won't release even one year of his tax returns. Dingy Harry is a slimy Marxist just like your little tin god, Obama!

I personally believe that Romney should not release any more returns. Two years is sufficient!

Why would I do that and leave a paper trail? :laugh:

If I were running for president I would make all of them public going back to the 1960's.

Like I said, Romney could put this whole issue to rest very easily. I can only believe he feels that releasing them will be more destructive to his chances of election than by keeping them from the public.

Hmmm...you have trouble understanding an accusation like that but you full well understand and support an accusation very much like it when it comes from one of your left wing buddies against a Presidential you oppose.

Just like my post Reid's accusation is slanderous gossip and unfounded. He claims to have an unnamed source and was willing to go the the senate floor with gossip. He has cheapened the Senate House with his slanderous gossip and you support it.

I could make the same claims about Romney and it would make no difference. He is not ready to be president and it appears his truth is whatever he can say at the moment that might win him a few votes. He seems to have no ethics. It seems he has been on both sides of just about every issue.

He released his 2010 return a long time ago, and is working on releasing his 2011 (he has not filed it yet, his account is still working on it. He requested and received an extension).
