Another excellent apologist is Ron Rhodes. Although not a Calvinist and I disagree with some of his views, I proudly will say his books on prophecy, the cults and Catholicism are excellent. I have many of his books, and am presently reading one of his apologetic books. I would say his book on Catholicism is the best that I have ever read including the one by Dr. White. The advantage of Rhodes book is that he gives questions throughout the book to ask Catholics which is very helpful for those dialoguing with Catholics, sending letters, or what not. I will be attending a conference that Rhodes will be speaking at next week and look forward to possibly meeting him. Do you appreciate Ron Rhodes?

Dispensationalism....no thanks. Went to his website (which you may want to link) and it looks like pretty typical dispensationalism, which I abandoned years and years ago.

John MacArthur is a dispensationalist (which I am not) yet he's a great teacher. You can't learn anything from Rhodes because he's a dispensationalist?

MacArthur being a great teacher is a matter of opinion.

Not if the topic is prophecy, not really.

Since I do not know what Dr. Rhodes advocates, it is impossible to take a stand. The OP said he was not a Calvinist, no effort to say what points of the Tulip he disagrees with. He does believe an unregenerate person can "exercise" faith in Christ, but whether that is because of "prevenient grace" was not made clear. Dr. Rhodes does advocate "total depravity" but whether that means "until altered by prevenient grace" is not made clear.

It was asserted Dr. Rhodes was a dispensationalist, but whether he is progressive or traditional was not made clear.

Clarity is key to understanding.

Upon reading more, I see that Dr. Rhodes is a self proclaimed "4 point Calvinist" rejecting limited atonement.

He does not write books on the debate. His books are mostly prophecy and apologetics.

Besides I do not consider him a Calvinist no matter what he may have think.

Many 5 point Calvinists claim 4 points are not really Calvinists. I go with the general rule, 4 or 5 pointers are Calvinists.

Still do not know if Dr. Rhodes is a traditional or progressive dispensationlist.

But we (Dr. Rhodes and Van) agree on at least two points, OSAS and Unlimited Atonement.

He uses the sinners prayer in every book and does not speak like a Calvinist in soteriology discussions at the end of each book. He is not a Calvinist in the same way that Dallas Seminary is not a Calvinist school.

Are you saying he is of the "believe like a Calvinist, preach like an Arminian" school? Is he a traditional dispensationalist?

Do you ever read anything other than eschatology or bible prophecy? You need to expand and see that Mac writes many good books.

I'm not sure what you're asking in the first question. If you mean have read books by him other than prophecy or all I read is prophecy?

You seem to be under the impression that I haven't read or heard MacArthur and therefore, I don't appreciate him. I don't really appreciate him BECAUSE I have read and heard him. Theological differences for sure, but as much a tonal issue.

God has gave to us gifted men as teachers and expositors in both calvinistic and Dispy viewpoints...

I have learned a lot from reformed authors, but also from non reformed , Dispy, heck even some Arminians!

Don't think God giving them spirutal gifts to teach and reveal the Bible also meant that he made them Apostolic, so can glean and profit from many!

As to me, its far more important their takes on the death of Christ as sole means to save, Bible inspired and inerrant, than wether if dispy of reformed!

Does Ron Rhodes endorse the book "Chosen But Free" from Norman Geisler? If he does, then how can he be a 4 point Calvinist, knowing that Geisler is at best a 1 point Calvinist?

Ron Rhodes and Dallas Theological Seminary holds to 4 point Calvinism. If this means that they are not true Calvinists then this would also mean that they are not arminians.

If you want to know what the Roman Catholic Church teaches today about justification and salvation, I suggest that you read Joseph A. Fitzmyer’s commentary on the Greek text of Romans. (Fitzmyer is one of today’s foremost Roman Catholic Bible Scholars. He also wrote a 154 page commentary on Philemon.)

If you want to know what the Roman Catholic Church teaches today about Jesus and His teachings, I suggest that you read Raymond E. Brown’s commentary on the Greek text of The Gospel According to John. (Brown was another of the foremost Roman Catholic Bible Scholars, but he died in 1998.)

If you want to know what the Roman Catholic Church teaches today about good Christians and good leaders in the church, I suggest that you read Luke Timothy Johnson’s commentary on the Greek text of 1 and 2 Timothy. (Johnson is another of today’s foremost Roman Catholic Bible Scholars.)

I you want to read smutty trash about the Roman Catholic Church, I suggest that read a book on Roman Catholicism by a man who learned about it from reading smut. The book, Reasoning from the Scriptures with Catholics by Ron Rhodes will do very nicely.

I you want to read a book of ridiculous fiction disguised as Bible prophesy, I suggest that you read The End Times in Chronological Order also by Ron Rhodes.
