Rosenstein Told Trump He’s Not a Target in Mueller Probe, Sources Say

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein told President Donald Trump last week that he isn’t a target of any part of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation, according to two people familiar with the matter.



Rosenstein, who brought up the Mueller probe himself, offered the assurance during a meeting with Trump at the White House last Thursday, a development that helped tamp down the president’s desire to remove Rosenstein or Mueller, the people said.



After the meeting, Trump told some of his closest advisers that it’s not the right time to remove either man since he’s not a target of the probe. One person said Trump doesn’t want to take any action that would drag out the investigation.

As I mentioned when you posted essentially the same thing ascribed to Mueller, there are three levels in a criminal investigation:

(1) Target
(2) Subject
(3) Witness

Trump is currently a subject in a criminal investigation, but not a target. Those categories can change according to what they discover, everything from “target” to ‘not under investigation’ anymore.

Trump needs to be wary. "Target" is legal speak, just another way to lie. That's what this witch hunt is all about...finding something, no matter how minor, which can make him a "target".

Rosenstein is not to be trusted.

and Rudy says he's going to resolve all of this mess within a few weeks. I think it's winding down anyways, probably why the Democrats have decided to sue Trump and Russia.

Rosenstein signed off of those warrants, remember that. He probably meant Trump wasn't a target in the Mueller witc- er- investigation, Trump is the target.
