Was this originally published in Russian, and translated to English?

 

I think it was originally published now. It seems to be a depiction of an event that occured in 1953.

When I was a young boy in 1970s, I heard about the sufferings of Christians in Russia. I wanted to go to them, to help them. I prayed for them. And then, God be praised!, the Soviet Union fell, and Christians had new freedom! But still I remember that for most of my life, I had wanted to go to the Christians in Russia.

I took a few classes in Russian language and culture, but I still cannot speak or read it. I am even forgetting how to pronounce the letters, because I rarely look at them anymore.
