A hymn written by Isaac Watts. (in common meter)
Titus 3:3-7 For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; that being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
"Salvation By Grace"
1. Lord, we confess our num'rous faults,
How great our guilt hath been!
Foolish and vain were all our thoughts,
And all our lives were sin.
2. But, O my soul! for ever praise,
For ever love, His name
Who turns thy feet from dang'rous ways
Of folly, sin, and shame.
3. 'Tis not by works of righteousness
That our own hands have done,
But we are sav'd by sov'reign grace,
Abounding through His Son.
4. 'Tis through the purchase of His death
Who hung upon the tree,
The Spirit is sent down to breathe
On such dry bones as we.
5. Rais'd from the dead we live anew;
And justified by grace,
We shall appear in glory too,
And see our Father's face.
