Santa is a COUNTERFEIT for Jesus Christ.

"he knows when you are sleeping, he knows when you're awake, he knows when you've been bad or good..."

    Sound familiar?

Psalms 139:2 Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.

Hebrews 4:13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

People worship Santa Claus, this is no joke! Go stand in line at the mall to see Santa and start saying he is a fake, he is not real, Santa's a fraud! People will want to take you out and stone you! But hear somebody use the name of the Lord as a couple swear words and nobody says a word.

I HATE SANTA CLAUS! If I see him flying around, I'm gonna shoot him down!

If anyone is interested, here is a link to the sermon in "Real Audio" that got me all fired up:Santa Claus

Should we be lying to our kids? Am I getting a little too fundamental? Should I lighten up a little? What does God think of liars?(see Revelation 21:8)

Yes... but just try preaching against santa
or Easter bunny at church. Its not just at the mall they'll want to stone ya!
It is teaching our children a form of idolotry, & it will affect some, mabey not all, but a few is too many. Could be yours, is it worth the risk?
And halloween, I won't even go there

Are you serious? No one over the age of 8 believes in Santa Claus. If you explain to your child that it is FANTASY and FUN it will be no problem. Lighten up.

    Mt 18:3
And said, Verily I say unto you,
Except ye be converted, and become
as little children, ye shall not enter into
    the kingdom of heaven.
    Mt 18:6
But whoso shall offend one of these
little ones which believe in me, it were
better for him that a millstone were
hanged about his neck, and that he
were drowned in the depth of the sea.
As I said, I know it does'nt affect all, but
the Word teaches to present ALL things honest. How many parents take time to explain that its fantasy? Also the violence on T.V., & the movies is fantasy but we try to protect our children from that.We explain thats' not real, but we've seen over the last few years how it can affect their thinking.

Santa Claus is a fairy tale in our house as well. My children know the true meaning of Christmas, and that no one else really has these attributes except God. And yes, sometimes we write, "From Santa," on presents. At two, my daughter said, " No, Mommy, this is really form you isn't it?"

Have you ever met anyone that really worships the big guy?

Good grief Lady Joy2! I remember that you called me a Santa Clause on an other thread. Now I don't know if it was a compliment or based on the above quote a hint?!

But to answer to the rest of you good people, when our children were small we never ever gave them presents in the name of Santa. We had our names written on the packages and our daughters came to us and gave us a big smooch for them all. Our story to them was that we give those presents on Christmas because we were given the greatest gift by the Lord Jesus Christ in saving us. They grew up like this and knew the story behind Santa and all the hipes the world has to offer around Christmas under his guise. [IMG]

Nicholas of Bari, also known as Nicholas of Myra, is the basis for the legend of Santa Claus, was bishop of Myra in the 4th century. According to tradition, he was born in the ancient Lycian seaport city of Patara, and, when young, he traveled to Palestine and Egypt. He became bishop of Myra soon after returning to Lycia. He was imprisoned during the Roman emperor Diocletian's persecution of Christians but was released under the rule of Emperor Constantine the Great and attended the first Council (325) of Nicaea. After his death he was buried in his church at Myra, and by the 6th century his grave site there had become well known. In 1087 Italian sailors or merchants stole his remains from Myra and took them to Bari, Italy; this removal greatly increased his popularity in Europe, and Bari became one of the most crowded of all pilgrimage centres. Nicholas' relics remain enshrined in the 11th-century basilica of San Nicola, Bari.

Nicholas' reputation for generosity and kindness gave rise to legends of miracles he performed for the poor and unhappy. He was reputed to have given marriage dowries of gold to three girls whom poverty would otherwise have forced into lives of prostitution. In the Middle Ages, devotion to Nicholas extended to all parts of Europe. He became the patron saint of Russia and Greece; of charitable fraternities and guilds; of children, sailors, unmarried girls, merchants, and pawnbrokers; and of such cities as Fribourg, Switz., and Moscow. Thousands of European churches were dedicated to him, one as early as the 6th century, built by the Roman emperor Justinian I, at Constantinople (now Istanbul). Nicholas' miracles were a favourite subject for medieval artists and liturgical plays, and his traditional feast day was the occasion for the ceremonies of the Boy Bishop, a widespread European custom in which a boy was elected bishop and reigned until Holy Innocents' Day (December 28).

Although his legend contains all sorts of Papist folly, in real life he was a dedicated pastor and preacher, predating the RCC. [IMG]
