Why??? perhaps incompetence...perhaps they know they will bungle things in the middle east....perhaps bush is in the Saudi camp and tolerates the wahabists.

In a claim that could fuel conspiracy theories about the recent oil price decline – in an interview to be broadcast on CBS on Sunday – Mr Woodward described a conversation between Prince Bandar bin Sultan and Mr Bush in which the former Saudi ambassador said he could ease oil prices ahead of the elections.
"They could go down very quickly. That's the Saudi pledge. Certainly over the summer, or as we get closer to the election, they could increase production several million barrels a day," Mr Woodward said.

osama bin laden actually helped bush win the last election was that a strategic move on his part ...wanting incompetence in power in regards to the only super power in the world???

If true ..how amazing is it that the bush culture allows the Saudis to pull each others chain...reprehensible.

Again from Woodward book who the bush administration actually lauded his first two books to the point of including it on the administration web site....my guess this one will not make the website.

I see that CBS is recycling now. Woodward's claim that the Saudis offered to bring down oil prices before the elections is one he originally made in 2004. Any old smear will do, won't it.

And al-qaeda wants people to vote him out of power . . . so does that mean that you are voting for the al-qaeda agenda?

    :BangHead:

Perhaps the "Saudi camp" knows how dangerous these terrorists really are . . . and they believe what they know?

The facts are against you on this one, ASLANSPAL. The Saudis have been cutting their output during the past few weeks, not increasing their output or even keeping it steady - they have been CUTTING their output of oil.

Some say upcoming elections the cause for lower gas prices
UNDATED-- If you haven't noticed gas prices are falling. And experts say prices are supposed to drop even lower as we head into the November elections.

That is making some wonder if politicians are controlling the price of gas. With a little more than six weeks to mid-term elections, the blogs are buzzing with theories about the reason for plunging gas prices.

Are lower gas prices a Republican plot? One blogger suggests that Republicans are trying to soften voters who have spent the last year angry about high gas prices. Doug Henwood, editor of the liberal newsletter "The Left Business Observer" - has charted President Bush's popularity against gas prices, and calls the correlation he found "uncanny". He stops short of calling it a conspiracy, but says more than three quarters of the movement in Bush's approval rating can be explained by movements in the price of gas.

It's not just the blogs. The notion of a GOP-gas conspiracy has gained enough steam to cross into the mainstream. A recent USA Today/Gallup poll asked voters if the Bush administration has deliberately manipulated the price of gasoline so that it would decrease before this fall's elections. Forty two percent said "yes".

Big oil's PR operation calls the whole idea "preposterous." They say if politicians were really in charge of oil prices they would be lower.

Fifty five percent of what you pay for a gallon of gas is tied directly to the price of crude oil. Refining, distribution (and marketing) and taxes each make up roughly15%. For every dollar that a barrel of oil moves up or down, gasoline prices should move about three cents.

Back in July, both crude oil and gasoline hit their highest recorded prices and gas was averaging about $3.00 a gallon. By mid-September, oil had dropped about fifteen bucks a barrel, so gas should have dropped about forty five cents a gallon. But it actually dropped fifty cents a gallon, and more since then.
Professor Ashkay Rao studies pricing strategies and was asked if President Bush could have had a hand in plummeting gas prices. Rao doubts the conspiracy theory. But he says it's conceivable the price cuts might have come from the energy industry, without any prompting from Washington, out of fear that if the Democrats win, they'll make good on threats to tax the energy industry more heavily.

Oil industry PR says they couldn't do it if they wanted to. They point to a mild hurricane season, calm between Israel and Lebanon, and no escalation in tensions between the US and Iran. But most importantly the legendary "summer driving season" is over. They also say the addition of ethanol to gasoline in the spring increased the price of gas at the pump disproportionately and when we switched back to "winter blend" fuel without ethanol, the extra cost went away.

Ken I am just posing a question...mr. so called expert(not!)by the way when will Murphy do away with processing Venezuelan crude (not!) perhaps we need to boycott Murphy...oh my ken ..you like to spout off
about citgo ..when Murphy itself is involved with Venezuela...real hypocrisy.

Other U.S. majors receiving significant amounts of Venezuelan crude so far this year were ExxonMobil, Valero and Murphy Oil. http://www.rigzone.com/news/article.asp?a_id=5064

By 1971, the company as a whole was reporting revenues of $300 million. While two-thirds of its crude reserves were in Iran, Libya, and Venezuela, it had also created Murphy Oil Company, Ltd., which oversaw exploration, production, and marketing operations in Canada and was headquartered in Calgary, Alberta.

Wow! what a history ...me thinks Ken you are playing both sides of the coin.

So Ken spare us the Citgo soap box you make it laughable:laugh:

but back to topic of course the Saudis can turn the spigot up in just a mere day and of course you deal with futures and the ripple effect plus
big oil do not want accountability so they are willing to take a hit while still making enormous profits...bush will let them get out of paying royalties, fair share of taxes, and we will also offer them corporate welfare.

so I think the oil companies do not have to take an order from anyone to lower the price and the Saudis and their intact wahabists....so why not
keep a bumbling bush culture in power ...where they can yank our chain
as our power diminishes because of bush culture ineptitude.

ASLANSPAL, I've forgotten more about the oil industry than you will ever know. Debating with you about the oil industry is the equivalent of me shooting fish in a barrel.

Where are you getting this stuff? Murphy Oil has no reserves in Iran, Libya, or Venezuela. Decades ago Murphy Oil had reserves in several countries that it no longer has than it has had for the past 2-3 decades. When attempting a smear, ASLANSPAL, you really need to use recent information not information that is decades out of date.

Murphy Oil Company, Ltd. is our Canadian subsidiary and handles Canadian activities and the last time I looked Canada is nowhere near Iran, Libya, or Venezuela.

ASLANSPAL, your smear tactics work no better now than they have in the past. A pathetic effort on your part, very pathetic.

But the Saudis haven't. They have cut their production during the past month.

Again, you lose your silly little argument, ASLANSPAL.

You might want to check the records for 2006, ASLANSPAL, instead of for 2002.

Ken.....Ken....Ken...try as you might you have been found out!

Table 7 shows the other 6 U.S. refineries with significant dependency on Venezuelan imports. In November, the refineries in this group received between 30 percent and 80 percent of their imports from Venezuela. Three of these refineries, Atofina Port Arthur, Flint Hill Corpus Christi, and Murphy Meraux, import crude oils in the intermediate to

BP PLC's Texas City refinery, which has processing capacity of 475,000 barrels per day, is only running at about half that rate, according to spokesman Scott Dean. And Murphy Oil Corp.'s refinery in Meraux, La., which has processing capacity of 125,000 barrels per day, is only beginning to restart production. Murphy spokeswoman Mindy West said the plant should be running at full capacity by the end of the month.

Ken no wonder you want to drown me out with over the top hyperventilation posts.....that really show how humble you are

It is written the humble will be exalted....Ken my problem with you is you want to smear 4,000 Amerasians who have jobs because of Venezuelan oil
but yet your own company dealt with it as well ...can you square that Ken...now don't lose your temper since you have been exposed to be a disingenious in this specific area but perhaps you were ignorant of the area that Murphy Oil handled Venzuealean oil.

Me thinks it is at Meraux refinery but i can only prove that it was doing it
in DEC of 2002 which is good enough for me ...Chavez was President then
as well so they were in bed with him at least until 2002 Dec.

Now let me ask you a direct question does the Meraux refinery still process Venezuelan oil.(don't fall into it Ken)

but like I said you were in bed with Chavez in Dec 2002 that is good enough for me and shows me you should be a lot more humble before you try to destroy 4000 American jobs.

Bottom line your paycheck is tainted with Chavez oil at least back until dec 2002 so show some humility and leave 4000
    americna jobs alone.

Chavez was not an enemy of the United States in 2002.

As I said check out the records for 2006. I'm not going to do your research for you, buster.

I am quite aware of what crude oil is processed in both of our U.S. refineries since I am the supervisor of the section that accounts for it.

Americans will buy gasoline from other gasoline stations that also employ Americans if they don't buy gasoline from CITGO and send their money to Chavez.

My company has nothing to do with this thread. You don't have the right facts about the Saudis so you are attempting a smear job. A typical ploy by you, ASLANSPAL. Learn how to stand on your hind legs and argue like a man.
