Scary Parallel of 2/27 and 9/11

The Enabling Act was passed after Reichstag Fire to temporarily suspend civil liberties to deal with the terrorist threat posed by Communists. The temporary emergency lasted until Germany was in ruins in 1945

The USA Patriot Act passed shortly after 9/11 to temporarily suspend civil liberties to deal with the terrorist threat posted by Islamic fundamentalists. The Patriot Act II is closer to the Enabling Act in content.

What's even more frightening are the parallels that Erwin W. Lutzer brings up about the pre-Nazi church in Germany and the modern day church in America, in his book Hitler's Cross.

Speaking of 911...

Has anyone seen the DVD 'In Plane Sight'? If so, what's your thoughts?

 

Nope, haven't seen the video. But I do have a personal testimony about that day. Though she was able to walk out unhurt, my wife (Cathy) was in the section of the Pentagon that was hit by the airplane. At the time, she worked for one of those agencies you don't talk about. That morning she had called me at my office about 8:00 to tell me she was heading over to the Pentagon. I'll leave out most of what happened that day. But, the plane went under the room she was in. They felt the impacts as it went from the outside to the inside rings and saw the flames through the windows. Several of her freinds were one story down from where she was meeting with some people that day. She made it out but her friends were not as fortunate. Seven of her friends perished that day in the fires.

I don't know about all the conspiracy theories but I do know that an airplane did crash into the Pentagon that moening and it did make it all the way through all the rings to the inside. And real people died real, horrible deaths.

My wife still works part time for that agency while we wrap up our seminary education. And, every time she goes to the Pentagon I get a cold chill and can't focus on anything but prayers for her and everyone there.

 

1. Which political opponets have been suppressed by our government? Have Moveon.org, Lew Rockwell, or the Democratic Underground been shut down and jailed yet? Really, Dr. Bob, what in the world are you talking about? If anyone has been raked over the coals by the government in the past 4 1/2 years, it has been supporters of the president in big business. You know: Enron, Arthur Anderson, Jack Abramoff, Scooter Libby? Which anti-Bush groups, outside of Al Quaeda and the Taliban have been suppressed? Are you sure you have really thought this through?

2. I wonder what you think we should do with unlawful enemy combatants who, BTW, want to kill you and destroy your way of life? If our government was even close to being as oppressive as you seem to think they are, you would have been either locked up or shot for speaking out against the president by now. So would I. I am a bit surprised that you actually posted this and expected this to be a serious conversation. There are so many differences between the Bush administration and Nazi Germany, it borders on lunacy that you even made the comparison. Here are a list of a few differences that make all the difference in the world:

* Freedom of the Press
* Freedom of Speech
* The Legistlative and Juducial Branch as checks and balances
* Freedom to Emigrate

Tell me, did Poncho hack into your account and start posting as you? What happened Dr. Bob? Normally, you really think through what you post and make sense. Today, you post silly conspiracy theories that are so far from reality that it really is a wonder why anyone would take it seriously.

3. Dr. Bob,

Which one of your civil liberties have been suspended? Do you not still freely speak out against your government? Oh wait...you just did that here. Ok, I guess it is not that. Are you not able to freely leave the nation? Can you not still go down to Crawford and protest this "illegal" war? What in the world are you ranting about?

4. If the good moral Catholics (?) and Lutherans were scared by something, perhaps they were lacking in faith. I don't know. It is not, however, a message of fear that I have personally heard from the Bush administration. I have heard the message of liberation, justice, and that we are winning and will win the war on terror. Perhaps, you would rather we try the appeasement, peace in our time route of Chamberlain and Lindbergh, but I will pass. It is those who claim we are losing and that it is a lost cause who continually try to scare the public with words like quagmire and draft. I am beginning to think that maybe your post was a bit misdirected.

I am sorry, LE. But, I am not the one who is afraid of the boogey man, alien invaders, gulags in the USA, a draft that hasn't occurred for 2 years after it was predicted by the true fear mongers, a Vietnam quagmire, or anything else that the true fear mongers are trying to scare us with. I just don't put any credibility into links run by lunatics who are nothing more than a bunch of Chicken Littles .

No fear, plenty of skepticism which is fully supported by reason and evidence. It is too funny to be feared. What is sad is that there really are people in this world gullible enough to take this seriously.

The video link I posted mentions the German Reichstag burning, Dr. Bob. I would be interested in reading comments from people who have the courage to view the link and wish to debate about the message, rather than the web site it is linked on (not the original source of the video). The journalist in the film is credible and spent hours pouring over records in the National Archives.

 

Have you been arrested yet, Dr. Bob? Which liberties have you lost? Can you leave the nation if you wished? Did you vote in 2004? Will you vote this year? Was your vote a secret ballot? Can you protest the president at his own ranch in Crawford? Take a look at the anti-Bush websites that abound and tell me that this government is like the Nazis. That is silly and ridicilous. You should know better.
