I clicked on this because I read "quilt" instead of "quit". Mine would have been a more interesting story.And she retired. She didn't quit, like all of the news headlines are saying.
No jobs were cut. They eliminated unfilled positions.
The council reviewed a final set of amendments Monday before the vote, which included reducing the police department by up to 100 officers through layoffs and attrition as well as cutting the $285,000 annual salary of the Police Chief Carmen Best and other top officers. Best is the city's first Black police chief and the pay cut would put her salary well below her White predecessor[./QUOTE]
the police also aren't going to dismantle any more of the homeless camps that line the streets everywhere. More urban decay coming up.

Not really - they did cut 100 out of 1400 jobs and "defunded" the police by less than one percent but they were going to slash Chief Best's salary so she hightailed it out of there:
