First there were the weekend getaways to Mar-a-Lago for Trump at $3 million a pop. Then there is the constant golfing while on these trips. Now we learn that the Secret Service needs an estimated $60M per year to protect Trump.

---------------

The U.S. Secret Service requested $60 million in additional funding for the next year, offering the most precise estimate yet of the escalating costs for travel and protection resulting from the unusually complicated lifestyle of the Trump family, according to internal agency documents reviewed by The Washington Post.

Nearly half of the additional money, $26.8 million, would pay to protect President Trump’s family and private home in New York’s Trump Tower, the documents show, while $33 million would be spent on travel costs incurred by “the president, vice president and other visiting heads of state.”

I agree, it is excessive. Especially for someone who called out Obama for his golfing and Hawaii trips.

With Trump's large extended family, it's bound to cost more to protect them all.

Yes, yes, the Secret Service just recently learned of the size of Trump's family. That must be it. That's why they decided a couple of weeks ago that they needed more money.

Even your own source article alludes to the fact that they could not predict who would win and prepare accordingly. They were also supposed to know precisely what the living and traveling arrangement would be before hand and prepare for that. At least you think they should have been able to? Right?

Is the Secret Service secretly clairvoyant?

Now it's time for an eyeroll.

BTW An unusually evenhanded article from WAPO.

Perhaps if Mrs. Trump moved in to the White Haus, costs could be cut a bit.

It certainly would. The President should consider contributing to the cost of maintaining her protection in New York. How much that would help is difficult to say. Security has to be maintained on the President's residence regardless of whether it is occupied or not.

I hope they get their act together. Since they changed ownership they've gone way further left. I used to like WaPo.

Here's how a crazy left wing outlet, Vanity Fair, sees it:

The Trump Lifestyle Is Officially Bleeding the Secret Service Dry

Talk about an eye roll! LOL!
