See ya...justice is served

Sounds like he has earned the death penalty for his actions. I don't know why he should think he deserves a painless death; he deserves to be beat to death with a hammer, like he did to his victim!

 

yes justice demands he is put to death for his actions. However, We should be merciful in the execution of that justice,just as our Creator and Savior is merciful to us. Yes the death penalty, however, humane death.

 

I agree, but within reason. I mean the needle causes pain. I think lethal injection is very merciful.

 

Someone, who is opposed to the death penalty, pointed out to me that if they put a person in an airtight room and simply pumped if full of nitrogen, the person would simply go to sleep and die peacefully.

Although I have no problem with the electric chair, lethal injections, hanging, firing squads, and other forms of capital punishment, at least that would get the argument away from the "cruel and unusual" aspect.

 

We need to go back to public hangings.

God ordained the state to handle these things. As for justice, I'm glad he doesn't meet it out to us all.

 

Interesting. I agree with this, however, the method of execution prescribed in the OT was stoning, which is hardly humane.

Justice is an odd thing around here.

 

Not exactly. The State agreed in a compromise to provide medical professionals to monitor Morales while the injections were given. The catch 22 came when the medical professional said they were unable to comply, due to the hippocratic oath. As pro-death penalty as I am, I don't think less of medical professionals for having a conflict of interest issue in this matter.

I'm inclined to cut 'em some slack. This is the third execution in the past year, the second in just a few months. Putting the execution off for or a few weeks to argue the issue in court doesn't seem unreasonable. I suspect the State will argue that medical professional is not necessary for executions, as it is irrelevant to the issue of cruel/unusual punishment. The death penalty is in no danger of going anywhere in CA.

I agree with you on this one, except that quartering comes to mind.

 

If this man had committed these acts in TX or VA this whole discussion would be in the past tense.

 

That's for sure. We have an express lane to death chamber in Virginia.

 

I don't mean to snatch your job out from under you, JBot----But I'd do it for free!!! Won't cost the lousy state of California a copper penny!! I'll pay my own air fare--lodgeing---food and whatever else---just show me the sringe--although I'd rather do it with a .30-06!!!
