Senate rejected a call for the withdrawal of U.S. combat forces from Iraq

Kerry's appeal to the radical fringe groups that control the democrat party is a flop with all but the extreme far left, as noted by the vote..

"Kerry and other Democrats accused Republicans of political gamesmanship, and promised an authentic debate next week. He and five other Democrats were in the minority on the vote — Russ Feingold of Wisconsin, Barbara Boxer of California, Robert Byrd of West Virginia, Tom Harkin of Iowa, and Edward M. Kennedy of Massachusetts."

 

It's a shame seeing members of Congress hiding behind our troops to get votes for themselves/their party this November.

These debates in both chambers are nothing more than political stunts for votes.

 

Democrats should relish the chance to go on record about Iraq. They do enough sniping when no public vote is involved.

When it is put up or shut up time, they run and hide.

Political cowards all, except for the 6 nutballs that, right or wrong, voted the same way they had been talking.

 

Many of the Democrats were spineless in their votes. They could have at least abstained in order to protest this political stunt by the Republicans to try to gin up support for this November.

No, they don't. But the spineless among the Democrats have been cowed by the Republicans who will distort a vote to withdraw months down the road as a lack of support for our troops. And all the while the Republicans are hiding behind the troops to cover the Iraq debacle that should cost the GOP control of both houses of the Congress. But gerrymandering will probably prevent that from happening.

If the Democrats aren't willing to provide a check on the excesses of the GOP, then they need to step aside and allow the Libertarians to do so.

If America is so against the war, then what did the Dems really have to worry about? Why don't they go on record against the war and then run their fall campaign on an anti-war platform? Your logic is flawed. The reason they won't vote their true conscience is because they know it doesn't line up with the conscience of America.

That's not what all of the opinion polls indicate.

The Democrats are simply showing politically spinelessness.

 

Speaking of opinion polls, I believe Bush's numbers are back up. Those who live by the opinion poll will also die by them because they change day by day. If America is mad at Bush over anything, it is his amnesty scheme and NCLB. America is, however, still behind the war in Iraq, or else, the Dems would have voted differently and made it the centerpiece of their fall campaign.

The democrats are just as afraid of losing their corporqte funding as the republicans are. They'll do or say anything to keep their office. If Halliburton the Carlyle Group, Conagra or AIPAC say's jump they say how high.

Anybody that thinks either party is there to serve Americans best interests or makes international or domestic policy are nuttier than they accuse me of being.

Bush's "idiotic amnesty plan" is part of a bigger one by the CFR btw. It's admited (mainstream) so I fully expect most here to deny it.

 

Let me see if I got this right. They are afraid of corporate America taking away their funding, but not afraid of the American people voting them out of office? Makes sense.

When logic fails due to a lack of knowledge use drivel. Denial of the obvious is a most liberal trait.

 

The latest FoxNews poll revealed on FoxNews Sunday shows that 58% of Americans disapprove of the way the President Bush is handling the Iraq war and only 38% approve.

By a 50%-48% margin Americans do not think that the Iraq war is making us any safer.

I don't recall the numbers but a vast majority of Americans do not believe that the killing of Zarqawi will make any difference.

 

I would think that democrat politicians would be happy to climb aboard this bandwagon, but...

everytime they are asked to take a stand with a vote instead of their mouths, they fold like a house of cards.

 

Both parties are mainly interested in getting and keeping power. They will both say and do whatever is necessary to achieve this result.

 

Miracles do happen. I totally agree with this statement.
