Shane & Shane Coming to Our Small Town

    Shane Barnard and Shane Everett will be here in our high school auditorium in Fairfield, TX on February 29. Coming with them is the band Starfield, Bethany Dillon, and speaker David Nasser.

    I'm pumped about it! Anyone have any thoughts or opinions on any of these artists/speakers body of work?

    They were at our church in 2007. I was out of town and was not able to attend. Here are the comments from the wife and kids -- (1) they were really good (2) they liked one of the opening groups even better (I can't remember who they were) and (3) they tended to talk a lot between songs.

    I hope to. Have you guys heard their new songs "Over the Sun" and "Embracing Accusation"? There's one phrase in "Over the Sun" that's got me stumped, that I plan to ask them about when they come.

    The singer is speaking to Solomon. The second verse says:

    Then He put on a somber face, talked about how the rich man will waste
    Away in the ground where the poor man is found painted up, like a clown
    Under the sun, under the sun, he answers: Get over the sun where life is hidden.

    Can anyone shed some light on the "poor man painted up, like a clown"? I don't understand, and I've read through Ecclesiastes twice searching for it. What am I missing?

    I think the phrase is intended to convey that the rich man will lay next to the poor man in the ground eventually. That his riches will not keep him from dying and being buried... and both are painted up to look their best after they die.

    That's the best I can do. Anyone else?
