Sharing a PM w/others

I recently read something on the BB that led me to believe someone had shared somethng from a PM with me. Someone made a comment that they could not know anything about unless someone had shared my PM.
Now someone refresh my memory.
But isn't there some rule or something about this? I have read several times in the past the warning of a mod to someone about not revealing anything contained in a PM to anyone else, it is between you and the other person in the PM.
Is this correct?

What I suspect happened is that other person told someone else, and that person mentioned something from it without saying it was a pm they were talking about. SO they didn't identify anything baout a pm, but it was pretty much something I had said.

But of course the way this was done there is nothng to prove it was a shared PM, but I know.

It is against the BB rules to post something that was in a PM.

It is not against the rules to tell someone what was in a PM, but it is not very nice either... :(

I guess moral prudence dictates that nothing be said, public or private, that shouldn't be repeated at sometime or another.

I guess you could say if it isn't against BB rules(and it should be) it is against God's rules to gossip by telling others what you were told. To betray a trust.

Jim, what that means is that you should never ever trust anyone. Never tell anyone whether in private conversation or public conversation what you do not want them spreading to other people, gossiping about you. Sounds like a pretty lonely life not trusting anyone.

And what of the person hearing the gossip and coming on the board making statements based on what I said in private to someone else? Someone took what was said in PM, not to them, and used it publically.

Two things: one, at anytime a person could relate information in the course of a conversation, and often do; secondly, trust is earned and should be proved before it is a given.

Many a soul has been scarred by loose tongues and usually from sources you least expect it. It does not lead to a lonely existence, but restricts private information.

Cheers,

Jim

But it could also mean to live your life with few secrets. Try not to do or say things you wouldn't like known.

It's actually freeing to not have secrets because you don't have to worry about who knows or what "they" will think of you when they find out.

(This is coming from a reclusive, secretive person, but my husband is extremely open -- for which I am in awe of him).

You have it all wring Daisy, and sound as if I'm bieng accused of something.
Secerts? Don't you have secrets from the strangers on the BB? Or do you reveal all of your life here?
See, even you are secretive. Meaning you keep secerts.
When you speak privately with friends do you want to them to spread everything about you? Or do you just not tell them anything about yourself for fear they will spread something?
Your advice conterdicts with your pratice I beleive.
