It has some kind of gross stuff in it, but yes, I liked it.

I've seen it more times than I care to admit. Awesome acting, writing and photography.

The warden is a corrupt hypocrite fond of quoting the Bible. But there's a great scene at the end where he discovers the police are on the way and he goes to the hidden safe. What's covering the safe? A framed needlepoint that says, "HIS JUDGMENT COMETH AND THAT RIGHT SOON."

I just finished watching it. I was about torn up seeing Red and Andy meet again. Torn out of frame.

High quality movie; very rare on the Hollyword scene. Gets two thumbs up from the balcony. [IMG] [IMG]

Isn't it sad how almost all Christians are portrayed as such in Hollywood movies?

But, Shawshank is a great film. I've seen it many, many times. Too bad it fell in the same year as Forrest Gump, otherwise it might have won a couple of oscars.

I have seen this movie quite a few times and still enjoy it.

One of the saddest parts (IMO) is when the kid that Andy helped through school gets shot. :(

The ending more than makes up for the sad parts though. Great movie! [IMG]

I have watched the movie several times and enjoy it more each time. I still find it hard to believe that it was written by Stephen King. [IMG]

I could watch this movie over and over again. Sue, it gets me, too, that Stephen King wrote it! But it's really excellent. It's well written, well acted . . . just overall a great film.

Yeah, what is it with Stephen King and prison movies? He wrote "The Green Mile" as well. I thought it was a great fictional story. I stress the word "fiction". I work in prisons and talk with inmates all the time, so I am pretty critical if a movie gets too far away from reality. My main criticism of the film was the obvious bashing of Christians and making the staff appear evil while making the inmates look like innocent victims.
