Should abortion be made illegal by means of national vote?
Or made legal be a vote?

Should it be decided no matter what the people think?

A national vote would result as follows:

The Blue states would keep it as is and expand the pro-death agenda.

The Red States would curve the pro-death agenda or eliminate it.

In the end, the problem of evil would still exist. This is an issue where the government should go with what is in the best interest of the American people, including the unborn, and outlaw it.

When it comes to a vote, we are saying that we have the right to decide. Which of course we don't, it should be outlawed, because it already IS OUTLAWED.

Which is further evidence that we are not a Christian nation under God's Law as I have said all along. Under the law of our land, abortion is not defined as murder, and is therefore, not against the law of our land.

The constitution already declared abortion illegal. Those babies are our posterity, they have been convicted of no crime and do not receive due process of law prior to their executions.

    No.

Here's what some of us thought we should do in order to overturn Roe v. Wade...

    Elect a president from a "pro-life" party...did it.

Elect a majority of congressmen from a "pro-life" party...did it.

Get a majority of justices nominated by a "pro-life" party...did it.

Today's net result...no change...America is still killing babies.

I remember in '04 there were those that said a vote for Peroutka/Baldwin was like a vote for Kerry.

But a Vote for Bush was.....a vote for Bush. All he has done is taken us into more liberalism.

I was not one of those people. I would not have voted for Peroutka and Baldwin even if they had a legitimate chance to win because of their isolationist policies on the war and our allies.

There would be a HUGE improvement on the present situation though - even the most rab id pro-choicers are not at all comfortable with late abortion. I think a free referendum would see abortion on demand reduced to first trimester, with only genuine health reasons plus rape and incest being allowed after that.

Of course PP and NARAL will fight all regulation tooth and nail and they have VAST amount of money to throw into a scare campaign. However, if I were a choicer, I'd be SERIOUSLY worried about the result of that referendum that was held recently (can't remember where).

No. The constitution protects the right to life no matter what the majority of the public want. This country is a republic not a democracy. Saying we should vote on abortion and follow the popular vote would be like saying should we vote to make murder legal.

Think of it like this in the 40s 50s should we have had a vote asking if we should give civil rights to black people. No the constitution protects their civil rights no matter what the majority of the people wanted.

The constitution protects the God given right to life, it just needs to be enforced.

I couldn't pick any of the choices. My answer would be, No,we shouldn't vote on it because we are not a democracy (i.e. mob rule). As citizens of a Republic, we must hold our elected representatives accountable to the Constitution. If this had been done all along, abortion would not be an issue.

Roe V. Wade is not the law of the land. The SCOTUS (or any other court) cannot legislate.

I understand all except the fact that you couldn't even vote for option 3?

Yes, courts don't make law, they rule on cases.
Yes, we are not mob rule. I am pleased to see how many on here understand that is what democracy is.

I did not vote for 3 because it makes it sound like the reason for not putting abortion to a vote is because God has already said it is wrong.

The reason abortion should not be put up for a vote is because the constitution already forbids it.

Yea, this "spreading democracy" has really worked well in Iraq. Every day these poor people are doing all they can to embrace our values of personal freedom, NOT!

I'm just glad you aren't president, otherwise we might be fighting wars in several more countries. BTW, I didn't vote for Bush or Peroutka, I voted for Kerry!

So far, five said vote, five said no vote. How about we vote on whether or not to keep the voters that chose option 1 alive???

Seriously, would you want your life to be in the balance of a vote? That if more than half of people wanted you dead, then dead you would be?

I know you all want a vote to END abortion but a vote can NEVER end abortion. Once you submit to the vote, then you are giving the decision to man when God has already spoken on the issue.

It is not our duty to vote for justice, it is our duty to demand that our elected officials uphold their oaths and protect the innocent.

It would be a very good thing if we could vote on the issue of abortion. Even though it is legal in the U.S. it is legal in most states because of a court ruling, not because the voters chose to do so. If we were allowed to vote on it, even it some states made it legal by that method, there would be much less political turmoil over the issue because those of us against it could work through the legislative/voting process to change the law in our states.

I think in England that they did vote to make it legal. Thus, there is not the political turmoil over the issue like we have here.

It should not be put up for a vote any more than the rights of anyone else should be put up for a vote. If you accept that a fetus is a person, then that person has Constitutional rights, which are not subject to the whim of the majority.

And that's how I see it. I agree, that I could be wrong about when a person becomes a person, but if I am right, then one cannot Constitutionally put abortion up for a vote.

This is exactly right. If we can vote on abortion, why not vote on whether or not we should kill anybody on this board?
    Who wants to be first?
Let's put your life on the line of a vote. Better hope more people like you than dislike you.

That is what they call mob rule and it is antithetical to Biblical government.

It looks like we have someone that said we should vote on it to KEEP abortion. Surely that person clicked the wrong button?

    Didn't pass in Ireland, though.

Voting on it, up or down, beats having seven judges decide.
