Did you watch Jimmy Kimmel Tue PM?
I wanted to. Where I live - I am able to pick up two ABC stations - but both are owned by NEXTSTAR, which is keeping Kimmel off their 35 some stations.
This link show how Kimmel started his show. Do you think he did apologize?

I am on a FB page - where some think Kimmel did nothing wrong!

What say you ?

I never watched him before I am not going to start now.
My understanding of his return agreement is that he would not apologize. This I heard from the radio and I don’t even remember who said it. I was in and out of the car a lot yesterday.
But YES! He should fully apologize. He has a public eye position. He should be apologizing to the Kirk family, the nation, and his employer for his behavior.

Well, he didn't apologize. Oh, he cried a little bit and he said with crocodile tears, "It was never my intention to make light of the murder of a young man, I don't think there's anything funny about it." Other than that, he justified his "job" and gave thanks to those who supported him including those conservatives and he named them by name who didn't think he should lose his job.

Just Google "Jimmy Kimmel Tuesday night" and you will find scores of sites giving you his entire spill.

My opinion? And it's only worth two cents, if that.

His job? His job is to bash the president of the United States. And he is paid mightily to do so. His employers KNOW that and pay him to do so. Last week, he used the Kirk family to do so. And that was pathetic.

I don't watch any late night talk shows, including Greg Gutfeld on Fox. But that is another post.

He didn't and won't make a true apology, but then again, and not in his defense......I haven't heard a true and humble apology from any public figure - left or right - about anything in years.

Jimmy Kimmel, in front of that camera and paid by his employers, has no free speech. He has paid speech. They know he is going on a rampage every night.

And that’s ’Free speech’ period. Opinions not withstanding. Your comment about his nightly diatribe being paid for is opinion.
I wonder though, just how were these people raised? Didn’t their parents ever teach them to not criticize if you can’t say anything nice? Honestly, debate … bring up points of concern & conjecture. That’s your stage, not a comedians endless critical sthick. That alone is all I need to know about these presenters. As for me, I don’t watch any of them…I do vote & I write my elected congressional representatives fairly often.

You and I can disagree and it's OK. You gave me an idea. I may write my congressional representatives now and then. [About topics not related to this}

And that’s your Right….both by God and the US Constitution. What anchors/humbles me Sister is first my morning prayer, ‘ Come Jesus Come’, then I both play & sing the ancient song, ‘Thou Thou My Vision’… I’m sure you know it. ;)

The hymn "Be Thou My Vision" is based on a 6th-century Middle Irish poem called Rop tú mo baile (or Rop tú mo bhoile) and has scriptural echoes, but no single direct scripture is cited as its basis. Instead, its themes of God as wisdom, strength, and treasure, and prioritizing God above all else, reflect biblical concepts found in Proverbs, Jeremiah 9, and 1 Corinthians 1

Then I feed the dog & the chickens.

how many conservatives did they fire because of stating an opinion.

All Kimmel had to do was give an apology for lying, he still has not done so. so he still should be without a job.
Actually some 70 stations owned by Nextstart and another company - still are not airing Kimmel. If they continue to not air Kimmel - that could be a cause for ABC to cancel him or at a minimum - reduce his pay.

I do not watch the guy, but no, he should not apologize if he meant what he said.

Our culture is full of wimps who hate others having a disagreeing thought, much less speaking it.

I do not actually know what he said, and that does not matter. I know it had something to do with Trumo and Charlie Kirk. I liked Charlie Kirk, so I will side with his ideas here.

We should be free to say what we believe. Do not apologize for saying what you believe. Do not demand others apologize for saying what they believe.

Demanding an apology from somebody for soeaking what they believe is a form of censureship, just trying to stop opposing ideas, that has become popular in our culture.

If he meant what he said, why should he apologize?

Say what you believe and let the chips fall where they may.

Or....just keep your thoughts to yourself.

This is what Kimmel stated: "During the monologue in Monday night’s episode of the show, Kimmel said, “we hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it.”

Kimmel stated that it was a right wing nut who killed Charlie. Actually it was a liberal who shot him. Now, I wont say Jimmy lied about the shooter, but at the minimum he was misinformed.. But when you tell an audience of liberals that the shooter was a conservative - then they will believe that regardless of what the truth is. Kimmel has a responsibility to tell his audience he was wrong about the background of the shooter.
This is what a rep from Turning Point stated:
“Not good enough. Jimmy, it’s simple,” Andrew Kolvet wrote on the social platform X early Wednesday morning. “Here’s what you need to say: ‘I’m sorry for saying the shooter was MAGA. He was not. He was of the left. I apologize to the Kirk family for lying. Please accept my sincere apology. I will do better. I was wrong.’”

I agree with Andrew Kolvet! We need an apology.

I dont watch him anyways - actually the last late night I watch was Jay Len

But:
1) I will have continue to have a very low opinion
2) a few that do like him - may stop watching

remember - the amount a a commercial must pay is based on the ratings.
and right now with some 70 stations (out of 210 markets) not airing will make a big difference.

Maybe ABC should back to its "NIGHTLINE" news program.

so he speaks an outright lie which he knows to be a lie

and he should not have to apologize for it?

I think this is what is wrong with this world. we can say whatever we want even knowing what we say is not true. and do not need to have to pay for our sins

I do not watch him either. He divides, he does not bring together. Christ does not teach division. Satan wants division, not Christ.

So I don’t even request an apology, it’s not possible for one of that ilk.

It’s not a sin, rather it’s a wrong opinion based on the politics and the economic position of this murderers parents… Not him. So the statement that Kimmel made is at best incorrect, probably based on his ignorance of the situation. So Kimmel was wrong ( therefore weak ) for stating something that’s incorrect, but not for him to recant would make him appear weak to his particular base….now he is twice weak.

The philosopher,Baruch Spinoza makes such a commentary on this & I agree with him in this situation.

He stated the man the man who shot Kirk was “MAGA” and the MAGA crowd was attempting to deny it.

That is a bold face lie… or… “misinformation”. If you rather.

The man was radical left wing and hate filled (toward conservatives in general and Christians in particular) that killed Kirk to “protect” his lover boyfriend that is “transitioning” to female from anyone that might disagree with the radical trans ideology.

In other words, this man believed the lies of people like Kimmel and about 90% of Dems and 10% of Repubs that conservative Christians are evil and it’s a good thing if they are killed, and he acted on that thinking he was morally justified.

EVIL IS BOLD and must be confronted with the truth in love.

And no, I couldn’t care less if he apologizes because I know it wouldn’t be sincere. And I don’t want him to lose his job because of what he said. I want him to lose his job because people refuse to watch his show.

Peace to you

Thanks.

I want to look up what he said (as a whole), and will.

But by not apologizing I meant something like a member saying that my view, and traditional Christianity, is a heresy. That happened. I know traditional Christianity is not heresy. But if the guy belueves it is then I woukd not expect an apology.

Now, if he realizes he was wrong then I woukd expect him to apologize.

"Thank you for joining us from Los Angeles, the second-largest city in our bitterly divided nation, where, like the rest of the country, we’re still trying to wrap our heads around the senseless murder of the popular podcaster and conservative activist Charlie Kirk yesterday, whose death has amplified our anger, our differences, I’ve seen a lot of extraordinarily vile responses to this from both sides of the political spectrum. Some people are cheering this, which is something I won’t ever understand. . . . With all these terrible things happening, you would think that our president would at least make an attempt to bring us together, but he didn’t. . . . President Trump did not. Instead, he blamed Democrats for their rhetoric.”

I take it the issue is not Kimmel claiming the shooter was MAGA.

The issue is he criticized Trump for blaming the Democrats for their rhetoric.

I believe the shooter might have been influenced by Democrat rhetoric.

BUT the shooter might have murdered Kirk because of Kirk's stance against transgender agendas.

Kirk might have been murdered because of his Christian values.

We can say Kimmel jumped the gun and decided Democrat rhetoric was not to blame
But by the same standard we can say Trump jumped the gun by saying it was.

I would not expect an apology. Now, @canadyjd , if Kimmel said the shooter was MAGA (I can't find that claim) then he should apologize as he was wrong, but I wouldn't expect it.
