Sins and the Judgement Seat of Christ

Heard Ron Hutchcraft giving one of his little "a word with you" speeches on the radio last week. He was telling us how God is going to expose each one's sins before everyone for all to see at our judgment day. I don't recall the scripture he cited, but I do recall he did not expound much at all with scripture.

I believe the scriptures teach our sins are cast away and remembered no more, but he says they will be seen by all.

What do you all think?

The real problem for those who deny eternal security is that in the resurrection glorification of the righteous occur BEFORE they stand before the Lord hence proving that the following judgment has NOTHING to do with justifying their fitness or entrance into heaven but with rewards in heaven.

Only with the wicked who are not raised in glorified bodies but with full ability to SUFFER in the body stand before the judgement not to see if they go to hell but to see how much suffering in hell their works demand.

Well, here’s how I see it and I confess now that I don’t know it all.


Everybody will be judged in some respect or another …. including the angels. But will everyone undergo the same judgment?


Paul says that Christians will undergo a judgment of our works, not sins. He says in 1 Corinthians 3 that we (Christians) have a foundation - and that's Jesus Christ.

Then, we build upon that foundation. Build what? Works. Ephesians 2:10 says that God prepared works for us to do as Christians - after salvation. It says that we are God's handiwork - created in Christ Jesus. It also says that that these works were prepared for us to do "in advance". God has a job description for us - as a church collective and as individuals. This job description and works don't save us but are what we do because we are saved.


Paul says that for the Christian, these works will be tested on that "that Day". Some Christians' works will refine beautifully under the fire of God's judgment like precious metals and others will burn like hay, stubble, and wood. But Paul is CLEAR to say that none of this has anything to do with their salvation, only their reward.


I do not believe that Christians' sins will be exposed on that Day.


If God were to expose all of our sins for ALL to see - as you say this man claims - then that would be judging us as to whether we are saved or not and THAT has already been settled.


Also, NNE would pass the exposing of the sin judgment because it's our sin nature that condemns us in the first place and we would ALL be condemned to hell. The blood of Christ would be ignored and the gravity of our unforgiven sins would override the sacrifice of Christ and all of humanity would burn forever. The focus for Christians that Day will be our foundation on Jesus Christ and how well or not-so-well we accomplished what God prepared for us to do for His Name's sake.


Judgment Day for Christians should be a day that we look forward to. Yes, it will be serious, holy, and we will, I'm sure, all be flat on our faces before God and Christ, whom God has made to be the Judge of that Day. (Someone help me with that Bible reference of Jesus being the Judge.)

Showing and exposing all of our individual sins would be for naught. It's our nature that condemns us to hell in the first place - not how many times we looked at porn, how many lies we told, or how often we hated people.

I know that some people teach/preach that on Judgment Day we will all sit back and watch the "big screen TV" and watch every single sin that every single person committed, but that's a lie.

It's unnecessary for condemnation of unbelievers because their disbelief condemns them already and it's wrong on so many levels for the Christian because in Christ there is no condemnation.

I think the Baptist Confession of Faith gets this one right.

Future Judgment - is in fact a life and death issue.

C.H. Spurgeon does NOT limit this to just "how many toys do you get in heaven" - rather HE shows that the Bible is speaking of the SAME life or death issue for future judgment that we find in Romans 2.

1. God has appointed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness, by Jesus Christ, to Whom all power and judgement is given by the Father. In this day not only the apostate angels shall be judged, but also all people who have lived upon the earth. That article of faith does not say a word about what you are attempting to force it to say. Nowhere does it ever say that Judgement day is for determing heaven or hell but rather for determing rewards in heaven and hell.

Romans 2 in context has nothing to do with the saved at all in any sense of the word but with those who believe that their own self-righteousness is sufficient to justify them before God on judgment day.
