Interpretation,
The game is football, called 'Soccer' where other nations such as the US use the name 'Football' for a game where they throw the ball with their hands.

In England Arsnel are one of THE big name clubs, with an attitude to match. Wigan are a small, underdog team doing exceptionally well this year. (a few yers ago - like two or three - people woiuld say "Wigan? Where is that? - Do they actually have a football(soccer) team?"

Wigan beat Arsenal .. a feat that does contend for minor mirical status.

Ulsterman is pleased. As is, I suspect, everyone outside London. He wishes them well in the next round (the Final) of the competition.

Yes old chap oh joy oh joy oh joy oh joy oh joy, is my interpretation.

Wigan is not a joking matter. I have been there. Compassion is called for and the Lord has given their team, thus the town, a real standing in England. Self-respect man. Wigan is to be respected because their team are going great guns. Honour.

That's right we are not talking sport but football. I do hope we get the oppotunity of seeing the USA meet Iran in the upcoming world cup finals in Germany this year. That will convince you that it is war not sport. There is also a chance we will meet Germany. Don't mention the war tshirts are already on sale.

Man Utd are international with fan clubs in every country. If REAL football is so full of skill why do only the big men play it in body armour? From the little I watch REAL football is plain brute strenght.

Mind you Ulsterman I've seen many a game of scoccer much the same. Up the lads! Ian Hunter maybe gone but his disciples are still in abundance. Henri's legs have got to be the target of any upright Englishmen.

These excolonials you know? If they had stayed with us we could have taught them football and cricket, instead they were sidelined with a game no one else likes. And a game our children play called rounders.

Funny, the Euro Football League is quite popular, even though the majority of the players are Yankees.

I remember the USA & Ireland useta have a Gaelic Football match every year...until it became so lopsided in the USA's favor that both leagues called it off by mutual consent.

The British taught boxing to them darn Yankees...and before long, the phrase "The Horizontal Englishman" made the rounds in boxing circles. And today, mosta the champs are Americans.


It's not that Americans dislike soccer...it's just that Americans are used to sports where the hands & arms are used.

BTW, UK folks, how popular is womens' soccer in the Isles and elsewhere in Europe?

NFL Europe has shrunk to the point that it is now NFL Germany plus Amsterdam - hardly popular. It makes it in Germany because of all the troops stationed there.

USA/Ireland Gaelic football? If the USA are so good why has New York (the only American team in the Gaelic football league) never even won a provincial championship? Are you sure about these facts roby?
