    Do you know what a Kaypro II is? :laugh: If you do you gotta be a computer nut or reaaaaally old!

    I found one on the curb today and it works - bright picture - but no boot disks - does anyone happen to have a museum with system 2.01 that they could send me a copy of? It is cp/m by the way.

    For those that do not know, it was one of the first portable computers, came out around 83. 9 inch screen built into a 27 pound case and keyboard attached to the front and it had a handle. Should have shipped with a two wheel cart :laugh:

    Yep, works like a laptop and carrys like a desk :laugh:

    Actually kind of like an anchor at this point :thumbs:

    Very interesting, same year and very similar, wonder who stole from ...... :laugh:

    Actually the Compaq looks a little more user friendly and had better hard ware too.

    Asked DH and he knew immediately - and told me all kinds of things about it. But of course, he's old. LOL!! Just kidding - he's only 46 - but has been working with computers since jr. high - and has been a computer geek all that time. He owned one of those at one point - but no longer. Sorry we can't help!

    If you would have asked this back in 1994-1995 (which most likely you would have had to dial into my BBS to do), I would have had the disks for you :laugh: I had some old machines, including a "time share" machine that handled 8 terminals. Trashed them all about that time though when finally cleaning the *really* old stuff from the garage.

    I did some digging and found this is a Kaypro I - printed on the back, but it has a Kaypro II stick on label on the back as well so evidently was upgraded in some manner somewhere along the way.

    What would we do without garages for all our old stuff :laugh:

    I have one of the first mac's produced sitting out there as well :thumbs: and of course without a boot disk :laugh:

    Na na nanna, my screen is bigger en that one :laugh: I think the Osborne may have come out a tad sooner than the Kaypro.

    I have a habit of collecting "conversation pieces" even though they end up in the garage and never get any conversation time :laugh:

    My dad used to have an Osborne. They were called "luggables" by many.
    His looked like a sewing machine when it was in the case closed up.
    IT was larger than my original Mac, which I still have and still works beautifully. It was made in 1984 and even had sound and a mouse :)

    The kaypro could use some built in wheels and handle for sure :thumbs:

    Know anywhere to get system disks for a M0001 mac? Was given one several years ago.
