I once read a book by General William F. Dean, the highest ranking POW during the Korean war. He was held for nearly 3 years. He was never tortured because of his rank, but he was subjected to continuous indoctrination in communism, made to attend classes for several hours daily. He always spoke up and never gave in to the Commies.

General Dean said it is impossible to convert a communist through argument or debate, but if you were to take any communist into an American grocery store and he were to see aisle after aisle stocked with every food imaginable, he would be INSTANTLY converted.

Communism makes everybody equal, it makes everybody equally poor.

    Hey Don,

It's not simply that...(even though that is not a bad idea) these are idea's that are rolling around in my head...I have just decided to come and hang out on this board...my hope is that these video's/articles will encourage and challenge folks.

Thanks for your replies...my hope is to generate conversation and as a result of these conversations people are challenged to live for Jesus.

In all reality I personally think it's to late for our country. I firmly believe that our time has passed. The country as a whole is to far in her sin and selfishness to come back.

As Lenard Ravenhill once said: "If God does not judge America He will have to raise Sodom and Gomorrah up and apologize to them."

The reason we are even having these conversations about this is simply because those who have named the name of Christ have simply sat back and have been far to quiet. The church has allowed herself to be captured away by another suitor. Our desire is not to Holiness, but rather our own desires.

Be careful with that kind of talk. There are a lot here who do not like to hear about holiness as grace is the desired main course. 2Tim 4:3. You could be charged with judging. :tear:

I'm a Grace addict, but the main attribute of God is his Holiness, not his grace. He is concerned with HIS GLORY being made known. Grace is simply a bi-product of his Holiness. But then again I think 80% of people in churches are lost, and simply attempting behavior modification to make themselves feel better. (OOO i did not cuss this week...God is pleased :applause: )

By the way that stat did not come from me. It came from Ray Comfort. But then again he's a tab bit to on fire for the Lord...we can't be out in the streets sharing the Gospel...people might get offended.

Several years ago I sat with a pastor of a church who actually stated that he believed that 80% of the church he pastored was lost even though they thought they were saved. I have for years said that a min of 50% of those who attend on any given Sunday and believe they are saved are actually lost.
I do think it is closer to 80% when you look at how the majority of claimed Christians live and the number that stands against any mention of keeping the commands after salvation or teach that people can be saved by accepting Jesus as Savior instead of Lord. Far too many today want a Savior, but not a Lord. They jump at the opportunity to be deceived with a false salvation if they are told that can live in the flesh and receive eternal life.
Repentance is a lost word in many churches or if it is preached at all it is watered down so much that it has become to mean to feel some sort of sorrow for making mistakes as it is called. No longer is it politically correct to demand repentance towards God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and what is being built is a false church. We are certainly in the falling away that is mentioned.
He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

Not that people have been too interested in holiness in the past, (although this might be the case to a certain percentage higher than today) but most mock it, cast it aside, compare it to monastic life, and marginalize it as unimportant.

I'm talking "Christians" here, and namely, ministers/pastors.

God has a different take, (the only "take" in my opinion) and has called us to be holy and to practice holiness. This is all throughout the Scriptures, and is NT epistle instruction.

To do so, that is obey the command and practice holiness is to imitate Him.

Failure to do so is failure to truly understand His holiness and who He is, though one may apologetically describe the many attributes of God, and impart a sound theology, one is still a failure and deceiving ones self in the process.

Intellect doesn't supplant holiness in Gods eyes, only in mans. I think many of us are in trouble here.
