Some reflections on last nights election

Just some thoughts of mine on the events of this election.

1. While I am disappointed in the results I can not be discouraged. Joy does not rest in who governs in Washington or what the moral or political climate of a nation is but rather in the person of Jesus Christ. I heard a comment on CNN how many within the black american community are filled with "joy". It made me think back to how evangelical americans experienced similar "joy" when a conservative candidate wins. Perhaps now christians can learn to delight in God instead of conservatism (as good as that is).

2. We do not know what will happen in coming years and to suggest the dramatic collapse of the US is do presume upon the future. Will things get worse? Most likely yes, but this would happen even if the Republican party had one. The natural tendency of man will produce a society that grows in depravity and corruption. A liberal president perhaps will speed this decline.

3. God is sovereign and it was His will for America to have the most liberal candidate ever to be president. In that I can delight. Because I know that He is working out His glorious purposes in the world even through the appointment of wicked men to positions of power.

4. I must pray for God to bring spiritual awakening to the United States and the world because He alone is the one who can send that from His gracious hand. Electing conservative politicians or the appointment of conservative judges, etc. will not "change" the US in the way it really needs to be changed- spiritually. Only God can do that, and He does that through the Holy Spirit, by means of the declaration of the Gospel.

So brothers and sisters, let us not be discouraged this morning. Let us be light and salt through a faithful vibrant testimony of the Gospel pure and simple, and lets us pray to God that He would complete His will and plead to Him for a gracious awakening of truth. Light shines all the brighter, the darker the room. May the light of Christ burn all the brighter in us.

I forgot to add. Lets not forget to pray for our new government as well. We are mandated to show honor and respect to the leaders God gives us no matter how corrupt or evil they may be.

You boys and girls pay CLOSE attention to Inaugrele Day-----what spooks me most is

which will he place his right hand upon in swearing into the Presidential office

God's Holy Word

or

the koran

We here in the US are dittoing what the Jews chanted on crucifixion eve

WE HAVE NO KING BUT CEASAR

WE HAVE NO KING BUT CEASAR

And there was no king in the land, and the people did what was right in their own eyes

Spooky

Real spooky

God's Holy Word. There is no doubt about this.

May God bless president-elect Obama and the United States of America. :)

You are right. Obama is a Christian. Some just refuse to believe.

Agreed. There is no doubt.

Not even sure I like the tradition anyway. How many lost men have taken a human oath with their hand on God's holy word. Is that even right?

I completely agree with this post and your OP.

I am also comforted by Daniel 4:17....7 This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men.

Your sis in Christ,
Beth

Look at it from this perspective:

As Christians, we're in this world, not of this world - these are exciting times we're living in, even though America now has a schmuck for a President. Read Psalm 73 to get a better perspective on things.

Hey, y'all

Good comments! There's a few things I see coming.

1) Israel better hurry up and attack Iran or she won't have an ally.

2) America better start living healthier because it will get harder to get, even rationed, medical care.

3) The nations of Europe have "prospered" under all that Obama is talking about implementing and they have done so for years. They have, though, done it by making trade free and depending on the US military for their defense.

4) Taxing "prosperity" just means there will be a lot less of it. Watch to see more "outsourcing" and businesses moving "offshore."

Wouldn't surprise me to see a new tradition established. :tear:

Taking the oath of office on many different "HOLY" books, as a show of "unity", "reaching out" and "compromise"!
