Some Reminders from Scripture

I know a lot of Bible verses are used to support various and sundry opinions here on the BB . I just thought I would start out with a reminder of these particular verses .

They are not in any certain order .

Philippians 1:29__ For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe on him , but also to suffer for him .

[The Lord only grants belief to some .]

Philippians 1:6 __ being confident of this , that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Jesus Christ .

[ The good work is regeneration . Believers are grated eternal life . The Holy Spirit is in residence . Our sure destiny is glory -- where we will see him face-to-face. ]

Philippians 2:13 __ for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose .

[ God works here on in believers . He orders our steps . His will will be accomplished in our lives . ]

Ephesians 2:10 __ For we are God's workmanship , created in Christ Jesus to do good works , which God prepared in advance for us to do .

[ The Lord ordained or predestined us ( believers ) to do those good works . Notice these god woks do not save . They are fruit or evidence that we are His . ]

Romans 1:32 __ Although they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death , they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them .

[ Everyone is without excuse . Even the multiplied millions who never heard of Christ have stood condemned . In Romans 2:12-16 is sobering in this regard . Concerning the second half of 1:32 -- some other verses on the same theme can be found in Psalm 12:8 ; Isaiah 5:20 and Luke 16:15b .]

2 Timothy 1:9 __ who saved us and called us to a holy life -- not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace . This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time .

2 Thessalonians 2:13 __ But we ought always to thank God for you , brothers loved by the Lord , because from the beginning God chose you to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth .

Titus 1:1,2 __ Paul , a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ for the faith of God's elect and the knowledge of the truth that leads to godliness -- a faith and knowledge resting on the hope of eternal life , which God , who does not lie , promised before the beginning of time .

[ The faith of God's elect is always comforting to me . ]

That's a bunch to chew on . Sometimes being rather familiar with a number of passages might trip us up . Look the verses up in various translations . Just get the truth of the Word lodged in your heart .
