Something I agree with Bernie Sanders on

I'm not sure how he jumped to ending gun manufacturing in America. I would like to know why this particular industry has such "broad immunity" from certain tortious lawsuits?

I'm guessing it literally really pays to have gun lobbyists.

No, but it does help to have common sense and know just a little law. If I go on a rampage and run over a man while driving my Mercury should his family sue me for going on the rampage or Ford Motor Company for manufacturing the car? Duh!

I agree. But to the contrary, to pen such a law as this seems to be antithetical to due process. If the court system finds that such law suits are unwarranted, then throw them out. There just seems to be something not right about saying certain industries are automatically granted blanket immunity for tortious acts.

No, not the state, but the state legislators who passed the law. Why make the taxpayer pay when it was the legislators who did the deed?

Except that is not what the proposed legislation says.

Because they represent the State - when they preform their duties according to the State/Commonwealth constitutions and/or laws.

Or how about because the very idea reaches levels of absurdity that go beyond words.
