By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh. Hebrews 11:4

Was the faith of Abel, the seed of the woman, who would crush the head of the serpent. Was that seed suppose to have come through Abel rather than Cain and thus it is stated of Seth; For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew. Gen 4:25

Does faith have to do with God's choice rather than what one did? Can we hear his blood crying out from the ground because Abel was dead in Christ? and by it he being dead yet speaketh.

I try my best. After all by faith about three million people passed through the Red Sea and a few weeks later would not go into the promise land.

KJV Luke 3:21,22 Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened, And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.

KJV Luke 3:23,38 And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed ) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli, >>>>>>>>>>>>
Which was the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth, which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God.

KJV 1 John 3:12 Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous.
Gen 4:25 And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.

Question. Had Cain not have slain Abel would Abel's name have been in place of Seth's in Luke 3:38?

KJV Gen. 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

As Cain was, of that wicked one, was Abel, of the faith to come. The seed of the woman, to come, yet was killed and replaced with Seth?

Gal 3:22-25 But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise, by faith of Jesus Christ, might be given to them that believe. But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster, unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

What was the faith of Abel by which he was declared righteous? Heb 11:4 By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.

Did Abel do that which he did because of who he was, of?

    Source of Faith?

And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

James 2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
James 2:20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

Acts 15:18 Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world.

Maybe it is not only God's faith but God's works also.

    That we do.

Perhaps I don't understand the question, but the source of true faith is always God. The object of faith has always been Christ Jesus.
