Southwest Airlines dropped a plan to put unvaccinated workers with pending exemptions on unpaid leave after a December 8 deadline following protests by their employees.

“This is a change from what was previously communicated. Initially, we communicated that these Employees would be put on unpaid leave and that is no longer the case,” the company wrote in a memo to employees.

Sounds fair. We are doing the same. People can continue to work while their exemption requests are being processed.

Saw a nurse yesterday who said their Covid ward has more vaxed than unvaxed in it. This is a takeover by totalitarians and y'all endorsing it because of fear.

No. Private ownership is one benefit about being a US citizen. If you own a company then you get to make the rules.

Governor McMaster was spot on with that point discussing this site. The State didn't tell private businesses they had to do (regarding masks) and it will not tell them what they can't do (regarding vaccinations).

Communism would be not allowing private businesses to decide for themselves.

No, the private businesses in question decided to require vaccinations as a condition of employment to protect its business. Any cost of testing would just be passed on to the DOE.

But over the past 9 months we had about 16 unvaccinated die, 4 in the past few months, and serious illnesses from covid have plagued the unvaccinated (at this site). The vaccinated recovered quickly, no issues, and came back to work. Many of the unvaccinated who got covud were seriously ill for a couple of months.

So it was a decision not just to protect employees but also to protect the company.

Companies should be able to make their choices.

In the US the majority of vaccinated people are White.....as are the majority of unvaccinated people due to the racial make up of our nation.

People of all races are vaccinated and unvaccinated.

The issue is (on both sides) a health issue.

Yeah, I just edited the post for clarification. The obvious dig was that this is the Dem approach, to use "racist" to attack anyone they dislike. Thus a "dose of their own medicine" reflection.

That makes more sense to me.

The only difference is most Republicans are vaccinated as well and Nancy Pelosi has objected to vaccine mandates. So I am not sure that we can divide vaccinations along political lines.

In a way it is more a case of a minority demanding what a majority will or will not do.

Just because someone has gotten the vax doesn’t mean they automatically believe employers or even the government should mandate it. This broad brushing of the group of people in or to broad brush the other group of people is just not honest. Further more it is a clear case of misinformation.

Companies should not have the right to require medical procedures be performed on the PEOPLE who work there.
Should I be able to say that only women who have had permanent birth control procedure be allowed to work for me? After all, that maternity leave is disruptive to the company. Only men who have had vasectomies can work here? Those child support garnishments and men taking maternity leave are disruptive to the company

Yes, if we look at vaccinations per race. A lot seems related to the idea they are the "Trump vaccines", but there is also a distrust in general (the Black population is often disproportionately unvaccinated).

Exactly. I took the vaccine because I determined, based on my risk factors, it would be better for me than not, even though I have recovered from covid.

But I am against vac mandates, mask mandates, and especially the experimentation on our children with an experimental vaccine that has shown deadly side effects for children who naturally have near perfect immunity to this virus.

As I have said, the virus and vaccine and other responses have been politicized from the beginning, mainly by Dems and the liberal left, as a way to control citizens and gain power.

The comment was specifically ragging on “Anti-Anti-Vaxxers.” Being vaxxed is not the same thing.

Any Reps pushing for mandates to be vaxxed or else? The Dem admin is pushing it hard. It's very political.

Pelosi could probably shut the admin up by actually contending with them, for example, by calling it unconstitutional...and racist.
