Thinkest thou me that thine adversaries, they that polluteth the King's language, shouldest be rendered through, hip and heart, thigh and lung, that they mightest be utterly consumed and forthwith thine visitations upon this globe vanquished.

It was indeed a beautiful and expresseive language. That is one reason I am grateful that the KJV is around and I hope it always will be.

The KJB is part of the cultural heritage of the earth just as much as anything on the UNESCO's world heritage list.

I'm saying this as a big supporter of that list who is willing to forgive the UN a multitude of sins because of it.

In a way, I see this as a nostalgic part of my history that many kids will not get to experience today. The loss of a beautiful language that is also the Word of God.

I do say that this comes secondary to being able to understand the Word of God, but churches could certainly still use the KJV in some classes, so that children may get the experience of hearing reading from such a beautiful language.

I contend, (Roger beats the same deda horse for the umpteenth time ;) ) that many of the KJV word choices are superior in their clarity of though than any other translation.

What do I call this? Personal preference folks, thats all.

And 400 years from now, people will say "the 21st century English was so expressive and beautiful. The fact is that English is a living language, it has undergone changes and will continue to do so. There is nothing worng with that.

A perfect example of why the Bible needs to be updated for new generations. Thanks, Paul33!

400 years ago, the language we are now praising as "beautiful" and "expressive" was only just beginning to be considered a worthy vehicle for literature or scholarship. And remember that it was a mere 40 years ago that the Church of Rome declared English a suitable language for divine worship.

Who knows what people will think of today's English in 2405? Aftr time and usig has cntinud to altr spelling and pronunsiashun and leveling has standrdizd incnsistnt spellings, thell probly be complaning about how lowsy THERE Inglish haz becum.

Yes, Ransom, When people tell me how beautiful and poetic the King James Version is, I love to quote 2 Kings 18:27........"...hath he not sent me to the men which sit on the wall, that they may eat their own dung, and drink their own piss with you?"

We do get carried away, don't we?

    Cheers,

    Jim

Would you rather it said, "...eat their own poo-poo, and drink their own tinkle?"

    It's pretty disgusting either way.

Ilike the use of the word "piss" myself. Gets more attention that way and stirs things up a whole lot more nicely [IMG]

Well the interpreters for the Deaf take it to another level. One of my sign students was forced to interpret a message (not even close to being ready for it) because no other interpreter was present. Every time the pastor said "dung", the interpreter, instead of signing bowel movement or manure, signed the "S" word, and each time.. the deaf hopped about a foot off their chairs.
