Speeding

I can't believe what I hear on this board that you consider going 3 miles over the speed limit to going 156 mile over. That statement alone is unreasonable. Also, to compare going 3 mile over the speed limit and adultery as the same is also unreasonable.
No what is unbelievable is that folks have personal standards that they go by and expect others to follow.

You consider going 3 miles over the speed limit to being okay, but it's actually against the law. You can get a ticket (breaking the law) for going 3 miles over the speed limit just as much as you can get a ticket for going 101 miles over the speed limit.

Sin is sin. It is all open rebellion against God. You think some rebellion is okay while other rebellion is not. That's what is unbelievable.

Claudia, you haven't answered yet... I like Bapmom's answer..

And my answer...Yes you will go to Heaven... you will just get there faster!!! lol

Back to Bapmom's answer...
I have heard that we can be fruit inspectors in order to determine whether someone is saved...

When we were growing up, we had an old apple tree on my granddaddy's farm... That stupid thing never would produce an apple.... (at least by the time I came along)

Anyway... Was it still an apple tree?

And you consider 3 mile over the same as 156 mile over. Now which one is sane?

Sometimes people destroy their own argument by going too far.

The problems comes when we start trying to define "fruit" and take that one-time fruit as proof or disproof of another person's salvation.

Being Christ-like is a different topic than salvation. Those who are saved ought also to be Christ-like.....and they are being turned into Christians. BUt they are also all on the journey towards Christ-likedness. We haven't arrived yet, and there will be rotten fruit dropped along the way. We might have years where we are totally unfruitful, also.

Oftentimes I think we attempt to impose our particular speed limit onto others, as well. Other people are growing at a different rate than you are, and you have to remember that. Some are faster, and some are slower.

Tim;
Wonder what Jesus meant by the following scriptures?

Luk 6:43¶For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

Jesus used the "tree" to show us the difference between the righteous and unrighteous. He must of not imagined we would bring up a tree in the barnyard that never bore fruit. How you know it was an apple tree if it never bore any fruit. Just because it looked like it. Jesus spoke of those who clean up the outside but inwardly they were raving wolves.

What about being born of an "incorruptile seed". What about being "cleansed" by the blood of the Lamb. Are we waiting for that also.

How can we have a serious discussion when you say 3 mile over speed limit is no different than 156 mile over?
That tell the whole story about speeding and adultery.
I assume the point that's being made is that sin is sin, no matter how little or big. According to God, one sin is just as bad as the other. No matter what sin you have committed, you have broken God's law and the punishment is the same for all sins, eternal death.
James 2:10 For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all. So, if the only sin I ever committed was telling a lie, I am still guilty of murder, adultery, idolatry, ect. because to break one is to break them all. Thank God for Jesus, who took my punishment!!!!!

Bro. Bob the problem is you are applying human reasoning and human standards. Of course by human standards and human reasoning going 156 miles over the speed limit is not nearly as bad as going three miles over.

However we are not held to human standards. God said law breaking is law breaking whether it is 3 miles or a 156 miles. And we must follow God's standard.

That is the Ten Commandments not just any sin.
1Jo 2:4He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

Speeding is speeding. It doesn't matter whether you are going 56 in a 55 zone or if you are going 156.
And all sin are not the same with God, according to Jesus. There is a sin and there is a sin unto death.

There has been a lot of talk about who is saved and who is not in this section lately and what makes one saved or not. My question in light of some other posts and responses is this:

A person who speeds while driving are they a Christian or not? Why? Why not?

Are they a Christian? If they were one when they got in the car, probably so :)

The Bible says clearly we will fall and fail all the time. Thats why we have an Advocate.

I dont believe we should wilfully sin. You can go over the speed limit not realizing it or you can go over the speed limit knowing full well you are doing it, then there are those Christians who dont even realize its a sin to go over the speed limit.

I think to God, those things matter. its the wilfully sinning that is bad.

But Christians will sin, the Bible tells me so. They need to repent though.

I don't understand your point. Sin little, sin big, same outcome.

Obviously you didn't read my post very well. There is a difference if you are looking at the situation through "human understanding and human reasoning."

Same is true with speeding and adultery.
No there's not as far as God is concerned. They are both open rebellion against what He said we are to follow. There is no difference. In human terms there is a difference.

All sin is the same Bro. Bob. It is breaking God's law. ALL sin is punishable by death.

But JJ in Proverbs it DOES spell out certain sins God HATES... not as if He likes the other sins but it does seem that there could be a thing such as degrees of sin, right? maybe?

My point Amy;
1Jo 5:16If any man see his brother sin a sin [which is] not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.

Scripture says so.

1Jo 5:16If any man see his brother sin a sin [which is] not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.
