Spina Bifida

    We just received word today that in my wife's nephew and daughter laws pregnancy, the child has been diagnosed with spina bifida. We pray that the kids will not be drawn into considering the abortion option We may not know the significance or severity of the effect on the child for some time, but we pray and ask prayer that whether minor or major, this will draw the family closer together and closer to the Lord. That the Lord would give us wisdom in dealing with them and the situation that would assure them of the beauty of the gospel even in the most desolate situations. It is their first child.

    I just prayed for them, Tom. A friend of mine had a baby last year with SB. All of the tests done on her (before birth) gave the family little to no hope but we all kept praying and my friend went ahead and gave birth. She now has a beautiful baby girl with only some minor problems--not NEARLY the grim diagnosis she had before birth.

    This was my experience as well. Except my child was born nearly 12 years ago.
