Stand Up For Jesus

I give out every year the Book of John at Halloween to the kids and parents. I also plan on (if I can remember to do it) to give them away at restaurants too.

If anyone is looking for some to give away there is an organization called The Pocket Testament League and I think you get 30 free ones monthly. They have many covers to choose from and come in KJV,NIV and NLT. They also have some childrens stuff too. I think it's a great organization.

 

Some great suggestions here.

 

The best way for them to know we are Christians is by our example. How we conduct ourselves. Because to the rest of the world even with out saying a word they think "there is something diffrent with that person". Our actions are the loudest footsteps for Jesus anyone will ever hear. Every day and in every way.

 

Absolutley! I often shudder to think what kind of a Christian witness it is when threads on the BB break out into Rows and have to be locked, yet it happens time after time with people who both feel that what they are doing is the will of God.

 

Some of them are right and some are wrong. They see the idiots(shamans) on TV bilking people out of millions. Many lost their retirement when the Baptist Foundation of Arizona officers lead a ponzi scheme and then it hit national news. I do not believe the SBC or anyone else has led the way in repaying the people. I am sure if George Truett were the president of the SBC today he would have led the 16 million SBC members to repay every dime. But instead they blamed it on the auditor.

There are some really great people out there doing their best to be a light but then there are crooks in the name of Christ or some denomination making it rough for those of integrity. A few years ago I worked on a couple’s home. They were godly people. The workers mentioned at how nice the people were and the difference they saw. I was able to witness to almost everyone on the job. But when I would go into a home of someone else who was living in darkness it was quite different. One time I worked on a job and the owners complained about how the contractor was cheating them. I went to another job and the owners complained about how they let go the very same contractor and asked me if I would finish the job. The contractor even taught Sunday School.

 

Amen! And since humans beings tend to be a curious lot, many of them will inquire about the reason why we are such loving and considerate people, thus opening the door for us to share our love for Christ with them.

Amen! We need to let them know by the love that we have for one another.

John 13:35. "By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another." (NASB, 1995)

 

I was thinking about getting one of the bobblehead Jesus's and plant it prominently on my desk.... not really. I like the idea of being authentic, no cutsie verses or "I'm a Jesus freak" bumper stickers. Simply to be real & to live in (but not of) this world. My 2 cents. Keep the change.

Can you control those whose message does not reflect the love of Christ and the message of Salvation???

You are only responsible for what you DO to reflect Christ in you. There will always be those detractors and you will always be judged for their actions even though your actions are different.

I think it is important that we stand up for Jesus where we can and reflect as much love on people through our deeds and through our work environment as Christians first and let it shine in our labors.

Continue to look at the positive rather than the negative and go about your business of doing good.

 

gb, are you saying the SBC as a whole should make up for the indiscretions of the BFA? Just wondering....

It sort of sound like putting the cart before the horse.

How do you handle Rom. 10 where people can't "hear" the Gospel without a preacher?

Do they just go and preach to the elect or what?

How did you come to Christ. I'm guessing somebody told you about him?

I believe when we share our faith we should do it in a cordial, nice sort of way being led by the Spirit.

Do you disapprove of evangelism in general or just particular approaches of sharing one's faith?

I'm just asking these questions due to some of the other posts I've read of yours concerning this topic. Just exactly how should the Good News of the Gospel be propagated in your opinion?
